What type of cocktails do the bears prefer, and just where did you leave said cocktails?
Lisa, the amazing part of all that gear on Johns tire swing is that with all the overload, the PSC bumper/tire carrier worked as it was designed to. One well engineered, strong combo from Larry and the crew at poison Spyder!
And the cocktails, vodka ginger ale, were for us engineers! Lol

Your right Rob, you need to experience the whole trail. I'm amazed and thankful that we have access to such an awesome place!

You will have a blast Lorie, just have your rig ready, you're a long way from any parts or shops. And take the 3 days to do it, it's a lot of ground to cover at 1 mph!

I think to have a trouble free Rubicon trip, is take your time also make sure everything is tight and if you have any intermittent problem replace it!!! The Rubicon will find any weakness in your rig.
The tree in picture had 20 different colors on it !!!
Stan, Criss and I thank you and Pam for a memorable time

Looks like a successful journey! I can't believe the amount if stuff you guys packed on your jeeps. Tahoe is a beautiful area and I can't wait until next year to finish what I started! The lakes leading up to Loon lake are all awesome and i thought Bodie was surprisingly cool!

We talked to a few rangers about the jamboree, asking what it's like with all the jeeps on the trail. He said you need lots of patience! There's almost no turnouts on the hard sections. And backing up when someone can't make an obstacle is a pain. I can't imagine what 20 jeeps on this trail would be like, let alone 300-800! No thank you! We will go again next year, and keep the jeep count down low.

The Jamboree has spotters everywhere though, and they bring stock Sport Wranglers through. Just lends credibility to the capability of a Jeep.

We had this discussion about bringing stock jeeps through, and we decided it wouldn't be a pretty sight! Some sections would be very frustrating without a front locker. And the damage on the underside would be extensive. While we camped at Buck island, we could hear groups passing through that section, and some took hours. Then there's Cadillac...

Awesome pictures and write up. Nice job!

Regarding the stock jeeps, sometimes it is not the mods to the jeep, but the size of your family jewels... and if you have a chiropractor. haha

I am pretty blessed to only be a couple hours away from the Rubicon. Thanks for sharing the photos and write up!

Dwight & Lynda did the Jamboree the past couple years, this year they said it was 7 hours for 7 miles. That's alot of Jeeps! They also said there weren't as many spotters as years past, I'm not sure the reason for that.

Mike and I would love to do this trail, it would be amazing to see all the sites in real life that are in everyone's pictures

Lisa, I called them this year and talked to a lady that has been working for the Jamboree for along time and they do these all across the country. We talked for about 30 minutes and it sounds pretty cool I'm not going to run it that way when we go next year, but I want to go that route on a future trip. They have toilets, spotters, mechanic steak dinners, live music, a bar etc. She also said they depart by build so that the lesser built Jeeps go last and built jeeps go first so there is less hold up. I've talked to a few people that have done it and they highly recommend it. That's Jeep Jamboree and not Jeepers Jamboree...there's a difference

Wait Bill, we had a spotter, (me), we had a bar, we had music, and Rubicon springs has about 30 toilets! And Jim was our fine chef that made filet and mushrooms, shrimp, and whatever else you needed.
And best of all, we could run our beer cans on our fenders and have a beer on the trail when we stopped, all with the blessing of the forestry. They just told everyone "drinking a beer is fine, just wait till you get out of the jeep, and make sure you have enough for me at camp when you stop!"
Less than 12 jeeps is the way, unless you like staying in camp for two days around 800 other vehicles. Think 100 jeeps on John Bull, at once.

I totally get the small group appeal and that's how I'm going to go next year, but I still need to experience the Jamboree at least once...

Besides, I'm used to 100 Jeeps on JB, that's how it is every time....

Now I understand why I got stuck on John Bull. I don't drink beer.
