Jonson valley

A group of us are going to johnson valley this weekend. Feb 16 17, we are looking for someone who knows the area that can guide us. If your interested let me know my mother inlaw has property out there and will be camping out there. So far five jeeps will be heading out

Just a heads up and I am not trying to scare anyone from this run/ newbieness. For those with a rear dana 35, spinning wheels in the desert while your on a rock is not always a great idea. In cleghorn if you spin a tire and it suddenly touches dirt, your axle doesnt suffer from much stress when hitting the ground. In the desert, if your on a rock and you spin a tire that suddenly hits traction with a rock is going to cause plenty of stress. There are ways to wheel without the need of a lot of skinny pedal and choosing the right lines. I know I have a dd and I know that at the end of the run I want to be able to get home on my own. We won't be on a rush and for some of you who haven't been here, let me just say that its a fun place to try new things. I've seen people bring their guns and practice as well. So lets go out and have some fun.

In the other thread we will be there (chocolate thunder and claw hammer) don't know what you guys want but your welcome to come Saturday and run em.
Min 35s and hard lockers front and rear would be advised expect some carnage or breakage as well... (I'd bring rear axles, full size spare, possibly a drive shaft)

Elmo, Todd, Mark Jeff, Joe and the rest of you who's names I don't remember but I will next time. It was great wheeling with you guys, I hope I made your time worth while. Although I am not familiar with the area, I had a blast and learned a lot more. My four banger with 35's and 4.10's worked freaking sweet! My clutch skills have gotten better since the first time I was there. I got pics Uploaded today and some video hopefully by tuesday, just clips though. I hope that next time we go we get more people to come, their is something for everyone and anything is doable. My YJ with limited flex and only one locker made it up almost anywhere I pointed to and the spotters I had are freaking awesome!

I've done Bullfrog, but not Cakewalk. I need to run that one sometime.

How would you say Cakewalk compares to Bullfrog? About the same difficulty?

I know it's hard to tell because the keep crossing each other and it's not always easy to figure out which one you're on...

Rick, it shouldn't be a problem for you. You do use your armor on some of the things. Its fun all around and we took our time enjoyed it and if someone wanted to try something we watched and learned. On bullfrog, there was a JK that was trying one of the extra credit lines, came down fast on a rock and snapped the steering box shaft in two. We didn't stay there for long as their group was pretty big, but we didn't see the jeep there on sunday. Before we left, they were discussing taking another steering box from one of their jeeps and installing it on the broken one to get it out.

By the time u buy all the used parts and then you have to get someone to tune it for you and finally it still won't be smog legal. No EO# You can't homebrew a FI system in CA.
