JV Yesterday

Here are my pics from our run yesterday. We did lower Big Johnson and Clawhammer. Great run! Thanks to Steve for leading! Definitely some intense rocks out there.

Nobody broke anything (as far as we could tell lol). My windshield did get cracked, but that was when we were still on pavement on the way to the trail.

Nice pics Rick thanks for sharing them with us.
It was a nice size group of 6 jeeps. I had a great time and I'm glad you all made it out for this one. There's some really good trails out there that can be done with a little better than average jeep ...that most of the people here have. I couldn't believe how much ClawHammer had changed since KOH race. Once again I had a great time and just let me know when you guys want to go again.
SteveO!

Nice to see more and more runs going on out at the hammers. I havent personally ran anything out there yet, but my buddies that actually raced it during KOH said that a lot of the stuff is definitely doable for a moderately built rig. Hopefully with more people on here giving it a shot, it will lead to more forum runs. Maybe we can even convince Jeff to host the meet and greet out there...there is plenty of room

Ya that would be really cool. One thing to remember that most of the trails (at least the older ones from VV4Wheelrs) were built by guy's with jeeps running 33's and 35's along with good ol leaf springs.

Id believe it. I think KOH makes people think that you will need 40s and a super built rig to get through there. This is the case for many trails...but im sure there are just as many, if not more, that are doable in a much smaller, less built rig

Starting in 1992/3 VV4W build SledgeHammer, Fisher Mtn and AFTERSHOCK followed by JackHammer being completed in October of 94. So you can see that the rigs of the day were leaf spring jeeps and 33's and 35's. These trails and others were build for the club event "Fun In The Desert" that is still held each year on Columbus day weekend in October

Thanks for the pics Rick! Definitely was a great day of wheeling. It's already a hot summer being 103 in the shade right now out here at Fort. This run made me want to get back out there and run more trails. I will be hitting Steve up for sure this spring when it starts cooling off some.

That's what I was thinking on the way home - probably wait until fall because it's only going to get hotter out there.

Yeah like Rick said it was pushing 100° by the time we were back to the bridge and airing up. It was a beautiful day with a heavy breeze that made it feel nice on the trail.
I was looking ahead to next weekend and the weather bug says it's supposed to be in the mid 80's.....I'm thinking Boulderdash and AFTERSHOCK sound fun.

I definitely will bud!
Hey look what I found in my tire after I good home Sunday. I'm not sure if I picked it up in JV or if I got it from (HDR) Stoddard Wells 2 weeks ago...or maybe Big Bear last Thursday. It was jammed all the way flush with the tire just between the base of one of the lugs on the tire. I pulled it thinking I'd have to plug it but to my surprise it wasn't needed. I checked it this morning and it's holding air. Super Swampers all the way!

Great pics wish I could have made it. I did John bull with Steve on Thursday.
Hey Steve, I took my buddy out Friday and at the last obstical on John Bull my pitman arm shattered. Took us an hour and half of jacking and winching just to get it to the side of the trail. About 10 minutes later this group from orange county shows up. Wooooo Hoooo they had an extra pitman arm......5 min later back on the trail.
Checked with Napa the next day and they didn't even have it in their computer to order. Don't know whether or not I could have gotten it in Victorville or not either.
Talk about lucky

That's pretty gnarly Steve! Is that a rock? Can't tell if it's wood.

I got my windshield replaced yesterday. Only cost $125 including labor. Not bad! Guy came to my work and did it in the parking lot. Let me know if anyone in the IE needs a windshield.

Man that's a great deal you got on the windshield Rick.
It's a stick I'm not sure where or when I picked it up but man was it in there.

My buddy Rick is still talking about how amazing you and your jeep did on ClawHammer. That was he first time out there and I don't really think he honestly thought any of us were going to make it up that canyon. .lol

Yeah, was amazed myself lol. There were a few sections that when I saw them, wasn't so sure I could make it. It's all about the spotting Steve!

Well not all in the spotting bud...you kicked azz man. I know it's a huge challenge to get a 4 door Jk on 35's through those canyons and you did it with no damage too.
Sweet job!

Nice pics Rick, Looks like you guys had a good wheelin day and a good group! That combo is the only 2 trails I have done in JV and I'm told they get much harder from there....those trails make you really realize why you need the upgrades....and spare parts...

Looks like its getting too hot for much more desert trips until fall...maybe by then I will have my mid arms done and can drag them across some JV rocks...
