Leasing a Jeep.

I've called & went to 5-6 dealers locally near Burbank/ Glendale to get some numbers on a Jeep I want, and none of them are giving me numbers at invoice or below, it's been 200-300 above invoice. Very irritating. Called up Koons in Virginia, and apparently they won't lease me a car since I'm in California. Any suggestions on a Dealer that is comparable to Koons in California? I'm willing to drive.

Best I got was MSRP 38,870, sale price being 37,500. 0 Down, 453.72 36 Month/ 12k miles / year on this car. 77% Residual and 6.25 MF

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport
Granite Crystal Metallic

Sport S Package 24S
Connectivity Group
3.73 Front/Rear Axle Ratio
Trac Lok Differential Rear Axle
Freedom Top Black 3-Piece Top (Is this at all possible to come painted to match the color of the car)
Radio 430
Sirius XM Sat Radio w/ 1-Yr Radio Subscription
Trailer Tow Group
LED Lighting Group
Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you in a business so you can expense to cost of a lease against your business activities? If not, you will lose $$$ leasing a vehicle. I have leased several vehicles over the years when I could write a lease off but I stopped when that was no longer worth not owning it instead.

Leasing is never a good idea unless it is a business write-off. The high resale value of Jeeps make it bad decision if you plan to buy it back at the end of the lease, you would be better off with a purchase. If you plan to modify it at all everything that you put on it will be a loss unless you remove it prior to turn in, more time and money lost. Buy it if you can you will come out ahead especially with the high resale value.

Bad idea for a Jeep. Jeeps do not play nice on the highway. Its like driving a tractor (IMO)
No offense to the people who daily drive their Jeeps :)
Its not luxurious and there are so many cheaper and better alternatives to commute.
Where the Jeep shines is actually taking it offroad. If you lease you will not be able to modify it like you want to and believe me... once you take it off the beaten path you will want to modify it.
My 2 cents is lease anything else... just not a jeep and this has nothing to do with its resale value... merely its the ability to modify it to how you want it... and leasing will not allow you to do so.( i.e unless you are willing to carry to end of lease and then use the buy it now option - which adds over 7k to the price.)

Not sure if your being sarcastic or not

I daily my JKU RHR, nothing like driving my 53 Ford or 77 for tractors. Actually totally shocked with how civilized the thing is. Only negative I have is how much I feel wind gusts....

Leather, heated seats is luxurious enough for me. But I do agree, there are cheaper more fuel efficient options.

Several friends modify their leased vehicles, every few years they get another truck to modify and they always turn it in after the lease is done.

You aren't going to find an awesome deal in CA jeeps sell like mad here. My local dealership was able to sell my year old used jeep with 15 k miles for 2k above factory sticker because it had some bolt on mods.

Call Omar at Scott Robinson in Torrance. Tell him Tyler sent you. He'll hook you up. I wouldn't recommend you go to them for your service though.

First of all, leasing can be a fabulous deal at a 77% residual. This topic comes up regularly on the forum and people just love to naysay leases.
Secondly, call Paul Whitehead at Orange Coast jeep, fleet department, in Costa Mesa. Tell him Andy sent you. I believe he can get you well below invoice on any jeep you want.

Are you planning on doing any off reading with the Jeep? If so there is a good chance you could sustain damage that could reflect negatively when you return it at the end of the lease. They frown on any damage other than normal wear and tear.

That MF is way to high to get a low monthly payment. Try to get a much lower MF. The few hundred dollars off the purchase price won't make a significant difference. The 450 payment is +/- $200 for the car and interest each plus tax. If you cannot get a better MF, consider buying with a low APR and selling 2-3 years later. Your overall cost will be much lower than that lease payment.

Also, the Glendale jeep dealer sucks.

Check out Cerritos Jeep. I went to roughly 8-9 dealerships including HB which BTW is a no haggle dealership.

I went to Cerritos cause they had a internet "sale" on a Jeep and had a great price. So I show up and of course the "sale" Jeep has been sold. They showed me quite a few other Jeeps and I pick one that just came off the truck with 4 miles. I said I'm looking for the same price range as the Jeep that was on sale as this one had a few dealer extras. We walk into the office and the Manager walks over and said I heard you're looking for the Jeep that was on sale and also heard you walked away from quite a few other places. I said yes, I'm interested in buying and not into playing the game with the salesperson walking back and forth 20 times for price approval. He shows me the window sticker of the Jeep I wanted, the price of the sale Jeep, and the invoice on the Jeep I'm looking at. He said I won't waste your time, I'll give you $2,000 of this invoice price. Deal was done in 30 seconds.

Like the above poster said, dealers don't need to cut the price as they sell at full sticker with no issue. One dealer told me the price you see is the price you get. Sorry see ya. Like I said I walked out of 8-9 dealers, so you have to just walk away and keep searching.

I would try Cerritos though.

Tried Cerritos, same shit. I'm leaning towards finding a used Jeep at the moment, Looks like that's probably a better option for me. I have a friend who's buddy he's known for 10+ years is a manager at a dealership local to me, I'm going to give him a call tomorrow to see what he can do. He claims he can give me 5-6% below invoice. I'll find out tomorrow.

Wasn't going to chime in on this thread since I do not believe in financing a depreciating asset, but thats close enough to what I paid for my JKU rubicon hard rock to recommend continuing your search. That just seems high for a sport. Hunter Dodge internet sales in lancaster may be worth a try - no promises though.

If you look at the first page, there is an HB, FFP, and EP. That stands for holdback, friends and family pricing, and employee pricing. You are being offered the car for a little bit over employee pricing. You are not likely to do any better unless you find a dog car on the lot that the dealer just needs to unload.

You can definitely do better on the rate if you have good credit. Check with your bank and credit unions. For the price of the jeep, try truecar.com. Usually below invoice.

Also, 35k for a sport? Have you looked into the Sahara or for a little more the Rubicon?

I bought both my jkus new since it was cheaper in the long run(resale value is REALLY HIGH!).my last 2012 jkus sticker was 29k and I paid 27k,put 56k miles in 4 yrs on it and sold it back to the dealer for 22k.it only cost me 5k to drive a brand new jkus for 4yrs and 56k miles, most cars lose 5-7k as soon as you drive it off the lot!this jk is soo cheap to own compared to any other car/truck I could ever imagine!

I had my new $39,425 sticker 2016 jkur delivered for free from Virginia to my home in Long Island and also got some crazy internet deal of $34,789(Chrysler rebate special?)?just build your jk on jeeps website and do over a 200 mile search, find a good deal and have them deliver it for free(some places around the U.S. are more hard up for a sale than others/believe me...I live in a really wealthy part of Long Island that only wanted to take $800-$1000 off a new jk and acted like they were doing me a favor?).

My suggestion is only go to a dealer to TEST DRIVE A NEW VEHICLE!NEEEEVER BUY A CAR WHILE AT THE DEALER!ALWAYS MAKE DEALS OVER THE PHONE SO YOU CAN WRITE THINGS DOWN/THINK AT YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE!when making a deal in the dealership...THEY WILL SCREW YOU!!!!do not believe the old...come on down/we don't give prices over the phone, when you are serious(that week)...tell them OVER THE PHONE that you want to buy "that week" a specific Jeep that they have and if they want to sell it to you for them to call you back with their best price as you are TOO BUSY/WORKING etc...to visit their dealer but you will be buying a new Jeep this week specifically!NEEEEEEEVER MAKE A DEAL IN A DEALERSHIP OR YOU WILL GET CONFUSED/SCREWED!!!!make sure of which vehicle SPECIFICALLY/EXACTLY before buying it as changing options in the middle of a deal will cost you FULL price!

Only recently that Virginia dealer tried to add $995 twice for destination charge, luckily I went over all the paperwork they emailed me "at my convenance"and I told them to eff off...they played dumb for a while till I said forget about it and then not only did they take off the extra $995 but they also took off another $300. So I said send it to me!

What I gathered is california will not register a non california certified car(smog etc)unless it is used/has more than 7500 miles on it and then it still must pass the emissions test?on the california state page it states most car companies still do a 49 state only gov test which is not good enough for california?
