Cool Looking to get a little muddy

Hey everyone,

I'm still a bit new to the Forum, to Jeeps and haven't really driven off-road in the LA area ever. I've just bought a 2012 JKUS last week, and am hoping to find some fire roads or something fairly entry-level for me and my stock Sahara around the LA area. Thought about heading up to Azusa around the reservoirs, but am pretty gun shy about getting in over my head... Anny recco's, or anyone care to tote along a newb for some adventures this weekend?

I figure I might as well get some insane fun out of my 13.3 mpg.

If you want to get used to your rig, ya might want to head to Hungry Valley. They have a rather benign Jeep park there. Benign now, first time there I about crapped my pants with the things people had me doing in my Jeep. Climbing stairs, boulders, up on two wheels, freakin insane people...

The good thing about Rowher, there are normally people there doing the same thing you are, new and seasoned a like. Great place to meet people.

5 dollar entry fee to use the park. If you like to camp, you can do that there too. Hungry Valley is up the 5...

Hungry Valley SVRA

Or you could do Rowher... no jeep park with obstacles to practice, basically a fire road that in some places will get your heart beating..

Rowher is just North Of Santa Clarita.

Hey DaK, thanks for the tips! Both sound like great places, I'll maybe check out Hungry Valley tomorrow.

I did sneak out to Asuza today, and I must admit, I am blown away by what my stock Jeep can do already, and I am quite certain I didnt even begin to push her. Funny how this whole naming thing seemed weird yesterday, but now I get it... my Rig and I bonded today. She'll have to have a name soon.

Thanks again!

KT

Hi Susiee, it was pretty tame... would probably be a good place to start, assuming you weren't there alone and were very careful. I did see one jeep roll today, but he was really pushing the limits and in an area that I wouldn't dare go... yet. Also saw another jeep get stuck DEEP in the mud. So, be careful and don't go alone.

We are headed to hungry valley one day this weekend. Will be an early meet and early out as well. Just going to the Jeep training area to a fellow jeeper can flex out his new rig.
