Los Angeles Shop?

So I just picked up a cheap ($3240) 97 TJ 2.5 and want to get it checked over by a good independent jeep shop. I am located in Pasadena but I am willing to travel for good service. Thanks for the advice. Loving the TJ so far!

Try 4 Wheel Parts, there are several, probably the closest is in Van Nuys, or check either online or the yellow pages. I usually deal with the 4Wheel Parts guys in Conejo, the Thousand Oaks store.

I could take a look at it. I got a yj that I rebuilt practically. Specifically what are you looking to be checked to ensure your jeep is in good condition? Personally for me I don't trust mechanics because they rip you off and find any reason to get money off of you. Thats Why I did my jeep myself.

4WP is in the business of selling and installing parts, not checking out a Jeep's condition. I wouldn't trust 'em anyway.

One very trustworthy guy that has a small shop who specializes in Jeeps is Jeff Lemieux at All 4Wheel Drive in Corona at 951-277-1037. It's not a bad drive there and he's the type guy who will give you an honest opinion about what may or may not need to be done. There are a whole bunch of guys I enjoy hanging with throughout SOCAL and John is the go-to guy for anything related to a Jeep.

They don't know what they are talking about half the time... of it isn't in the book sitting next to them then they don't know the part or what your talking about. Also their installation prices are high IMO

Thanks for all the advice!

Has anyone heard of El Medico De Jeep? Found it on yelp.

Some of the bushings look a little worn and I noticed a few oily spots on the drivetrain. Sure it could also stand to have the fluid in the transmission and diff changed.

The brake shop just called and I have working rear brakes now (may have slid though a couple red lights over the weekend)

I would not take my equipment to a place with a name like this. You have been give some good references here and they don't include this place.
