Great day on the trail! Sorry about the shaft break K9, at least you were able drive it off the trail...

We kept a decent pace considering we had 18 or so Jeeps...

Next time backwards...

So I did a little research and it looks like that crazy notch I almost flopped on is called Pucker Hill, and it has claimed more than one Jeep. I told my wife that, and she said that she conquered Oh Shit Rock today on her mountain bike ride. All in all, a successful, though scary, day.

Not me, but I found a video of somebody else conquering it. Kind of giving me PTSD, but here it is:

Yeah guess so. My fault. Started to slip a bit and stepped harder on the gas. The tire hopped back and caught then snapped the shaft. Limped it home on the front locked axle which made for an interesting drive. I'll be having a new shaft made this week and repairing the other for a spare. Ahhhhh jeeps.... Love'em :-)

Yeah....... that is supposed to be blocked off for that reason. We were behind you. I was in the red two door jk and my boy in the new rubi couldn't believe you went down it and didn't know what it was. Oops they thought they were going to have to jump out and get you. He is a way experienced wheeler and he has never even tried it. All is well though!

Ha - ALMOST is the key word. I lived to tell the tale, and will never make that mistake again. Next mod - upgraded roll cage.

I told the guys I was standing with when you were coming down that it was a good thing that you pulled out of it because I would've been of no help in the recovery ...I would of ralphed and passed out....and I probably would've did it again after I woke up...he he..

Seems to me Big Vic and XJman took us down something like this when he led us there. I remember a very long, muddy, steep, slippery slope buried in a bunch of trees. I remember people saying don't lock your wheels, keep it in low and keep the wheels turning. It was like a Jeep slip and slide.

Not the same hill Gunner, I know the one your talking about but we all chose to bypass that section called pucker hill because of all the mud.

Hehe - everything seems to be in proper alignment now. A whiskey or two helped.

Still got to figure out why exactly , but I have time now

Had a great day wheeling and spending time with forum members. One casualty of 20 isn't bad with all things considered (or was it 18?) I have driven my jeep in front wheel drive. I could not imagine doing it while being locked.

I have learned a new lesson today. Don't always follow guys with 37's. I still don't what I was thinking going down pucker hill. I should probably make sure I have a passenger with me from now on so they can make sure I don't do stupid things.
