Mciver's Cabin Run 7APR meet at 10AM

Will be headed up to Mciver Cabin this Saturday. Plan is to meet at 10 AM at the intersection of SC065 and the 14. SC065 is also known as Horse Canyon.
Red Rock Canyon, Kern, CA - Google Maps

This is run classified as a moderate but I can't see it being that hard in anyway as stock pickups make this run with no problem. At the top by the cabin there is another trail, foot trail, that will take you see over Owens Valley and down on Dove Springs.

This is a great run for any new people out there or people who just wanna go see something new and different. With all the rain they have had at altitude the past couple of weeks maybe there could be some mud.

If time permits and people are willing, we can make a last chance run as last chance road is 1/4 mile up the road. For last chance I would recommend rugged tires and rock rails as there are one or two sections that are rocky. If you don't want to do Last Chance Canyon with us, there is still plenty to see down Last Chance Rd, Cleanser mine, couple of cabins, Bickel Camp, Burro Schmidt tunnel.

IF you decide to come on this run and are headed N. on the 14 I would recommend pulling off to the right, let traffic clear then cross the road and would recommend topping off your gas tank in Mojave, that is the last gas or bring a can of gas with you.

Unhappy Bummer

Man this is KILLING me, I love going up there but will be out of town! It would have been my first real trail ride to. :-(

Done it on the motorcycle many times.

BTW the valley you see is not the Owens valley, it is the Indian Wells Valley just so you know. It is where Inyokern, Ridgecrest, and China Lake are. :-)

Have a great time DaK!!

So how was the run? I ended up NOT going out of town but worked on the Jeep all morning to check a few things out. Went out with a friend Saturday afternoon in the hills behind the college and had a BLAST!

Maybe next time Dak!

The run was great. One other jeep besides us. Low 60's up at the cabin and manage to find some mud.

We are doing Cerro Gordo next month. You don't want to miss that run... Looking around May 20th. Will post up when solid.
