Miller Jeep Trail 11/19

Well the Mojave Road trip has been canceled, or hopefully really just postponed...

so instead im thinking of doing the miller jeep trail this weekend with overnight camping (optional) Saturday and Saturday night.

yomondo says he will come meet us and party at camp Saturday night and DEUCE2 (+wife) has already told me he wants to go.

here is the typical miller jeep trail info for this run, since the days are shorter i changed the times an hour back from the previous run.

This will be a run up Miller Jeep Trail on Saturday 11/19, with optional overnight camping, and optional play day at Hungry Valley on Sunday 11/20.

Weather Forecast for Frazier Park as of 11/14 (looks like we will have to keep an eye on the weather, snow sunday would be so cool!
Saturday November 19

Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 30s. 20% chance precip.

Sunday November 20

Rain and snow showers. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper 30s. 60% chance precip

Miller Jeep Trail is rated difficult, but is really moderate for a Jeep, and this season, the trail seems to have gotten easier. For this trail run, everyone must have front and rear tow points. A CB radio is also highly recommended.

Be sure to bring the following (in addition to your usual stuff):
- Pack a lunch to eat on the trail.
- If you're camping overnight, please bring a bundle of firewood.
- If your camping, be prepared for temps in the 30's.
- If you're camping overnight, you will also need an Adventure Pass, which you can acquire ahead of time at any major sporting goods store, or pick one up at the Ranger Station on the way to the trailhead.

Itinerary:

We'll be on CB channel 16.

9:00am Gas up and meet at the Flying J in Lebec
42810 Frazier Mountain Rd
Lebec, CA 93243
661-248-2505
There are also Chevron, Mobil and Shell stations in the same area, if you prefer to gas up at one of those before meeting up at Flying J.

9:30am Have breakfast at the Denny's right there at the Flying J

11:00 noon Leave Denny's and head out to the trail head turnoff
N34 45.578 W119 02.987

11:30pm Air down and disconnect at the Staging area, then hit the trail!
N34 44.059 W119 02.364

Break for lunch along the trail at Sunset Camp
N34 41.998 W119 00.023

3:00pm We should reach the end of the trail about this time, and find ourselves at Dutchman Camp
N34 40.557 W118 58.696
Sunday

We'll take the fire road down to Hungry Valley (45-minute drive from Dutchman Camp), and either play at Hungry Valley a bit before leaving, or air up and head home.

Post up if you'd like to join us, and let us know whether or not you'll be camping overnight.

Going:
1. Beantown - Camping
2. Yomondo - coming to party at camp (no wheeling)
3. DEUCE2 (+wife) - camping
4. Kyle3792 (+ friend)
5. 4XSMURF (camping)
6. This JK38 9day run)

Maybee:
1.

Sorry your other run got cancelled guys but...

Awesome! I'll bring a vegetable mix and beans for the dinner (assuming we do a pot luck type thing). It sounds like it is going to be real cold too so I'll bring two bundles of firewood with me.

I might want to stop by the ranger station on the way to the trailhead just to pick myself up a campfire permit. I know you guys already have one, it's just one of those things that I would like to have myself too.

Yeah! It might get some overtime this trip too. It looks like it might be so cold that we might try and warm ourselves up from the inside!

I'm also trying to get another forum member to come along with us. Originally I was supposed to do a run to Rowher Flats with him, but my awesome reading skills led me to believe that was cancelled when it wasn't. I told him that his stock JK would do just fine on this trail too and that this trail is a lot more fun. Hopefully he joins us. I don't know if he has tow points though. That could be a deal breaker.

Yeah 2deuce2 Has me really interested in this run. I am 75% in depending if I am able to get some rock rails and tires (caugh caugh Deuce). I have the stock rear tow hook and the tow points of my XHD front bumper. Seems like rain is in the forcast for the weekend, will you guys be doing it if it does?

You want 'em you got 'em

Rain doesn't stop me... I was off-roading in a pool at our last Turdhurdler meet and greet in Big Bear! I think that I will be leaving my top and doors on for this one though. Draining out the interior of the Jeep sucks and I'm sure the wife will appreciate it.

rock rails would be a good idea, other than that you should be good. what tires are you running.

we will watch the weather, if it looks like its going to pour both days then we probably won't go, if its chance of light rain no big deal.

illl update the list as soon as i have the ability to edit the first post

I might be able to join you guys for this, if you have room for one more... I have a small camping trailer, but I'm not sure how I would get it up there (unless I drive it up the fire road beforehand). Are you all tent camping?

If I come, I will definitely bring firewood.

your welcom to join us. have you been up to dutchman camp? its a long ways up the fireroad, and is the only way you could get your trailer up there. its probably about 30 minutes or so each way. the campground is at the end of the trail, and we drive out on the fire road in the morning. we are all tent camping.

Yeah, I've been up there before. I know it's a long road up there, especially with a trailer. I'll just have to bring a tent then... no problem. I may just have to bring someone to keep me warm at night

Any other ladies coming?

im not sure what those are, but if they are a/t you should be good. what size? there are really only a couple tough spots, and are not that hard. most of the trail is moderate, steep rutted climbs.

here is my vid from last time

My wife is coming with me, so if you bring yourself a girlfriend, she won't have to deal with listening to a bunch of drunken weirdo's all night long.

I have a set of 5 brand new BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires that I took of my Rubicon, if you need them. I'll sell them pretty cheap. They're 255/75/R17

there really is one spot you will need the rock rails, if you take a careful line you might not need them, just ask 2DEUCE2 i think he got a lil damage from no rock rails and was 32s and stock.
