mtnlvr from Skeletoad Offroad forum has been moved from the "maybe" list to the "going" list. He'll be camping, and in his own words,

Uhoh, Beantown. You better show up so you can defend your tri-tip title.

Hmmm, since mtnlvr is bringing tri-tip for all, that might not be a bad idea. I was thinking of steaming some veggies to go with the beef.

You should be fine with that. If you have tow points front and rear, come on along. Will you be camping?

9/19 Weather Update

I'm seeing conflicting weather reports, but as of this morning weather.com is showing isolated thunderstorms and 30% chance of precipitation for Frazier Park on Saturday. Stay tuned.

Never mind. False alarm. weather.com must have had a quirk. I just checked again, and now it says:

Saturday: Sunny, 74 high, 59 low, 0% precip
Sunday: Mostly Sunny, 72 high, 58 low, 10% precip

Carry on.

He's got a trail cover now, so if he brings it, it probably WON'T rain, because the weather just like to mess with him.

Yeah, what the hell! Why does the rain have to follow me around? Yomondo's generous donation will make sure that I don't ever drive home in my own private lake ever again. I'll probably bring it because I am really thinking of going doorless and topless for this run.

Yah the weather forecast keeps changing. Now weather.com says cloudy with 20% chance of precipitation for Frazier Park on Saturday.

I was hoping to go topless/doorless too, but because of the amount of stuff that I'll be packing, I might have to put the top on anyway because it stacks up kinda high in the back.

Definitely kid-friendly.

The entire Miller Jeep Trail, from the staging area to Dutchman Camp, will take maybe 4 hours including a lunch break along the trail. From Dutchman Camp, it's about an hour drive on dirt fire roads and pavement until you get back on the highway. Add to that a little time for airing up and reconnecting sway bar links.

So, if we get started on the trail by 12:30pm, barring any incidents, you could possibly be back on the highway by 6:00pm.

Nice! We've got a few new faces coming along on this trip! (Not that I'm getting tired of the old faces or anything!)

Put us down for camping and let us know what to bring for the pot luck? If you don't tell us, Judie my wife will make Chili/cream cheese dip and tortilla chips. They are sure to make everyone gain 10 pounds!!

I'll bring some type of rice side dish for the potluck.

Still haven't got any final word on if my buddy from work with the Rubicon is going to make it, but I am going to have a passenger with me on this run now too. One of my friends is dying to buy a Jeep, he just needs that final push, so I invited him to see how much fun you can really have with a Jeep. Obviously, he will be camping with us too.

We're in for the potluck...We're happy to bring tri tip too if MTNLVR wants assistance...or we can bring a side dish...and of course, a donation to the Libation Station ;-) Do we need an extra BBQ?

After. Dutchman Camp is at the top of the hill, at the end of Miller Jeep Trail. And Sunset Camp, if we decide to camp there instead, is along the trail.

Chips and dip sounds great.

I'm thinking the grill on the fire pit should be good enough. (?)

Tri-tip sounds good. I'll tell mtnlvr to not go out and buy more tri-tip due to the new additions to the camping list.

Breakfast

Hey, question, everybody....

I'm counting about 14 people meeting up for breakfast. Big John's is kind of a small place. It might be tough to get a group that size seated all together there. Do you think it would be better to have breakfast at the Denny's at the Flying J?

That might be easier, but on our last run we had 9 people at the two tables. If we could get another two tables we would be good. It's a total crap shoot though because like you said, Big John's is a small place and I'm sure that the locals don't go to Denny's.

I could scout ahead of you guys while you wait for the rest of the group at Flying J and see if we will have the room at Big John's. I'll call you if there is enough room and you can start sending people my way so we can save the seats and if it looks too crowded, I'll drive back your way and we go to Denny's.

That might work too, but unless anybody is totally opposed to Denny's, it might just be easier to do Denny's. And we won't have to annoy that waitress lady at Big John's.
