Welcome to the forum! This trip is definitely still on, and we'd love to have you join us! Your Jeep will do fine. CB would be awesome.

BTW everyone, here's the GPS track from when I ran Miller Jeep Trail last June, in case anyone wants to download it to load onto your GPS device or favorite it to view on your iPhone/Android for the run.

This sounds like a blast! We have a stock 2010 Rubi....do you think it's doable or should we wait to get a lift before attempting? We recently ran Cleghorn and only had a bit of trouble on one trail with some erosion/rock drop.

If you want, you could do your own thing at Hungry Valley on Saturday whenever you feel like getting there, then meet up with us in the afternoon for dinner and camping, then a bit more wheeling on Sunday. Just an idea. Or you could meet us at the staging area at 10am.

Prepare to party. I'll be bringing a bundle of firewood, a 12-pack of MGD and a bottle of American Honey, some plastic disposable shot glasses and a table to line them up on.

It's some smooth and tasty whiskey. You'll try it soon enough. I've got a near empty bottle on the counter left over from a previous offroading/camping trip, and three unopened bottles waiting to party. One's for this trip and the other two for my Mojave Road trip over Thanksgiving weekend.

Yomondo & Bean...we'll bring the Advil & red Gatorade for Sunday recovery

Any other JKUs coming?

It's going to be a lot of fun! Have a great Thanksgiving! We're driving the girl up to No. CA this week and looking forward to a bit of wheeling before turkey day.

Yomondo, this is the weekend after the Mojave Road? You don't mess around! The wife wants to go and that weekend just opened up for us. I will talk to you about it next weekend.
Miller trail is a pretty fun trail with small water crossings and great views.

Yo McPuck, welcome to the forum brother! Just don't unpack the Jeep between trips. Yah, it's gonna be a busy couple of weeks. I had this trip planned before the Mojave Road trip, and I didn't want to pass up the Mojave Road. I'll add you to the list.

Lockwood Trail and Miller Jeep Trail get shut down after the first storm gentlemen. You might want to contact the ranger station before you head out, make sure it's still open.

As of right now, Frazier Park area is showing 3" of snow at 4500 elevation and about two feet at 7,000 elevation.

Here's info to the local ranger station up there.

Mt. Pinos
Ranger District
34580 Lockwood
Valley Road
Frazier Park, Ca 93225

TTY/TDD: (661) 245-0521

Thanks for the heads-up. Yah, I figured that's a possibility. And there's also another storm showing in the 10-day forecast for next weekend. As a Plan B, we could just romp around Hungry Valley instead of doing Miller Jeep Trail. I'm going to give the ranger a call the week prior.

Thanks for the info. I've had the Mt. Pinos Ranger contact info on my phone for years. Every winter I go snow shoeing up at Mt. Pinos (gorgeous hike, especially early in the morning when very few people are there), and I take my son's boy scout troop snow camping there.

I usually monitor this page, which right now shows Lockwood Valley Road open with 0"-1" of snow, and the current snow level at 5000'.

Sounds like you are well prepared. That's a nice page to have bookmarked, I just bookmarked it myself. My dads up there right now at our cabin and he says the snow is not much on the city but much more in the mountains. I really wish I was up there right now but I have to work today. Hopefully the trail stays open for you guys. Have fun up there.

Yup, that's the stuff. Goes down real smooth as a shot, which is the only way I've ever had it.
