Hiya!

Miller is a good trail for new rock crawling wheelers. It can be done with a stock Jeep.

There’s a lot of trail to it without rocks; however, there are some rock gardens and some steep switchbacks.

RIG REQUIREMENTS: 4 LO, tow hooks, sliders and offroad tires.

MEET PLACE: Ranger Station off Lockwood.
Directions: From the Flying J in Lebec, (42810 Frazier Mountain Park Rd, Frazier Park, CA 93243), make a left on Fraizer Mountain Rd, and drive approximately 7 miles or so. You’ll see a deli/pizza market on the corner of Lockwood and Fraizer Mountain Rd. Make that left and go one mile. You’ll see a Forest Station sign. There’s a designated left turn lane to make that left to get to the Ranger Station. You’ll see the Ranger Station on the right. The directions on the website for the Ranger Station has been wrong for years. It'll send you miles up the road. Follow my directions here.

MEET TIME: 10am. Saturday, June 11. Please Be Early or On Time !

We are camping at Chucupate Campground!

To get to camp, it is 3 miles up the same road in front of the Ranger Station. So once at the Ranger Station, just continue up the mountain. There’s a Big sign that says Chucupate. There are 2 levels to the campground. We always try for the upper level. Additional info is here Los Padres National Forest - Chuchupate Campground

I love camping there when I do Miller...it's Nothing like Gorman and it's FREE. Very pretty with critters :) Welcome campers!!

I haven't posted this anywhere else yet, so have plenty of room.

The pics attached to this post are camp and a rock garden :)

Yay! !! I'm so excited to see you two again! This run will be a little bit more mello. :) Let's coordinate times for camp arrival! I work until 230p. From Mugu, it'll take two hours to get to the Flying J. I'm probably not towing this time. Temps are going to be awesome too! 80/60!

So if i were to go and i dont have sliders would that be much of an inconvinience?

There's really only one section towards the top where you might need them. Some use them, some don't. If you don't maneuver through that section just right, you have the possibility of some body damage without sliders. This is my first run of the summer up Miller. .so don't know what it's looking like right now to tell you anymore.

With any trail, at any time, damage can occur. Your choice! :)

Just a little update :)

I don't want to take more than 10 rigs or so...here's who I have onboard right now. If things have changed for anyone, please let me know.

Ron
James
Pat & Joyce
Dave Jr.
Natasha
Mireya
Nick
Kyle
Chris n rick

I'll be getting to the Flying J by 5pm Friday.

There's 4 more who aren't solid yet; won't know until Tuesday & Wednesday so not listing them. I don't want 20 rigs, so I will be capping this run.

Miller Jeep

Was at Miller Jeep last week and ran into a little problem. Couple guys went back this weekend to do some trail repairs on the vehicle that was left there from Memorial Weekend.
Result: Broken rear diff.

The trail is pretty cleaned up, as the usual switchbacks/ rock garden at the end. Took a stock Tacoma (I know not a jeep....) last week through Miller fine. No sliders = body damage. (My fault, it was dark and didn't see it coming) Should be able to get jeep through just fine.

For Chucupate it looks like we need to get the Adventure Pass. I haven't gotten one yet this year so want to confirm.

Also, is there any room for trailers up there? I'd rather put the Jeep on a trailer than flat tow it, but not sure if there is space up there for that.

I'm debating about staying down in Hungry Valley, since I know it's only $5 and plenty of room for the trailer.

Ive been going there for years and have never been asked to show an adventure pass...I think I actually have one. Even if I don't its $5. But like I said, I've never been asked. ..in fact i can't remember the last time I saw a ranger drive through.

Yes there's room depending on which site you take .. There's also an area where people park their trailers by the Rangers. So your choice.

I hate staying in HV. Its $10 a night not $5 by the way. And its dusty and loud. Your choice though!

Ok. I dont imagine the cg will be full. Its usually pretty open and esp on a Friday. I take my truck to the mech today. If I can tow my jeep I will. There's usually plenty of sites available. Some bigger than others. If you don't find a place at camp for your trailer, the staging area by the Rangers is always there too. Its huge. Pavement area. Once i turn onto Lockwood I lose cell service. ..FYI. :(

No worries. Was still a fun weekend.

I still can't get over how long we had to wait behind all those Toyotas and once they finally moved we went through the same section without any trouble at all. I'm not even sure I know exactly which spot they were all getting stuck on.

This weekend we are off to Forest Fest!

Yes..Well..I've had enough of a million people on the trails for a while.

And yes, there was nothing to warrant things taking so long except ill-equipped rigs doing it. This is EXACTLY why I list rig requirements and turn the wrong kind away. It can ruin a day.

I had a good time, woke up kinda thirsty sunday morning for some reason though. HAHA

I would've like to have seen that group (the slow one ahead of us that we passed) make it up the end of the trail. Some of those yotas might have had a bit of a hard time in the bigger rocks.
There are different level trucks built for trails just like Jeeps. Those trucks were not "Trail Ready" trucks. I've wheeled many times with trucks...but modded trucks Built for the rocks. There is a difference.:blackeye smh

I did post my Big Bear run on my FB Lorie Graves. I'm camping and running June 24 and 25th..I'll leave Sunday 26th. I've got 5 going already and will take 5 more MAX. Min rig requirements are 33's, lift, sliders.
