Moab June, 2011

Anyone in California interested in getting in on this? Maybe stay overnight in Vegas along the way?
1st EVER Wrangler Forum Moab Pilgrimage.
I was thinking about hitting Moab next year during EJS, but I'm now having second thoughts about the craziness of that week, driving all that way just to wait in line on the trail behind a hundred other Jeeps. So this is sounding more appealing.

I've subscribe to that thread so I can keep an eye on it. I am definitely interested but it is way to early to know if I will be able to.

The guys in the other thread haven't said yet what dates, but they did say they'd be head out of Rauch Creek, PA on Friday 6/17, which is about a 30 hour drive to Moab, so I figure they'll take three days to drive there, and arrive Sunday 6/19 night. So based on that, I was thinking something like the following:

Sat 6/18: Drive to Las Vegas and stay overnight.
Sun 6/19: Drive from Las Vegas to Moab (460 miles / 7 hrs).
Mon 6/20 - Thu 6/23: Wheel during the day, maybe camp Sun & Mon nights, hotel it Tue night, then camp Wed & Thu nights.
Fri 6/24: Drive from Moab to Las Vegas and stay overnight.
Sat 6/25: Drive home from Las Vegas
Sun 6/26: Get some rest before going back to work the next day.

What do you think?

That's driving time. 460 miles at 65 mph comes to 7 hours. But if you're talking about travel time including stops then yah, I would give it about 9 hours.

sounds pretty cool and I'll keep an eye on it. The group that I go to Moab with, we try to schedule the trip 2-3 weeks after EJS because of the crowds. It's actually pretty nice in the spring time, not too cold, though we did get a thunderstorm on our last day. I'm from San Jose and drove my rig there and back and the drive from Vegas to Moab isn't that bad but since you're in Burbank, you could whittle that down by skipping Vegas and staying in Mequite or continuing onto St. George:
-Burbank to St. George 6 +/- hours (which is 2 hrs north-east of Vegas).
-St. George to Moab 5 1/2 hours

I'll be here waiting, just let me know when you are arriving. Closer to the date I will give someone my # so you can keep in touch If you don't mind me coming on some trails. Also if you do the Safari trails you have to pay the club that runs it all, I never go with them, guess I am a scab

I sent a PM to everyone that posted in that thread. The people that started it are not going. I will be out there Memorial week and anyone interested can meet me in Moab.

Yah, I was just thinking partying in Vegas would be a fun way to kick off the week, but then we can drink anywhere, so Mesquite or St. George might not be a bad idea.

We still need to figure out which week to go. I probably can't make it the week of Memorial Day.

Yah, sorry I got stuff going on that week so right now it's looking like I can't do that week, but I'm still going to see if I can make some arrangements to do it.
