Thanks for the heads up, that is on my short list of trails. I wonder if they closed it because of winter in general or the little bit of snow they had? I want to hit the higher trails as much as possible before a big snow hits...Thx

With the forest service you never know! there was about 4-6" of snow at the time but melting fast, the only thing is if you spend the time to get all the way up there with plans to go into Big Bear and find the gate is still locked then you are dissapointed. The other road that goes up and over the hill to Big Bear is Radford road which starts at the converse station but it may be closed also. May be worth while to call the ranger station first and ask.
