Hello all, I am from Wichita, ks. My family and I are looking into relocating to the greater Los Angeles area. We are currently applying for jobs so the exact area is still in the air, my wife is an experienced restaurant manager and I have a bachelors degree and am trying to be flexible in my career endeavors. My current employer does not have relo options to the west coast. We are looking for a minimum 3 bdrm 2 bth,

If you happen to know of career or housing opportunities feel free to pm me!

I know what you are talking about. I am from Colorado and so many of the fruits and nuts came pouring in I had to leave.

I know your not here yet, but welcome to the area. Palmdales pretty close to a few real nice wheeling areas. Big Bear, Calico, Johnson Valley just to name a few.
Have a safe trip.

The stars have aligned, everyone is off and home today so we are going out for the first time out here to do a little wheelin'! Not sure where, but we live in Palmdale (55th & R) trying to find some fun within one tank of gas for the whole family in a stock JKU. As always open to suggestions, and look forward to seeing some of you guys out there!
Where are some good places close to Palmdale?

Howdy Neighbor!

Lots and lots of dirt roads and trails around the valley. Easiest one is to just head East on T. It will turn to dirt and go on and on with plenty of other offshoots to take.

Us Antelope Vallians ought to get together for a day of desert wanderings.

welcome to Palmdale. Your just down the street from me. Let me know if you need a hand with any jeep projects. Depending on your rig, there is a pretty sweet little trail not far from us. I know of a few real easy trails just up the road from us.

funny you mention it. My buddy was asking about it. He is burning through his tires before replacing so we have a little time.

Toss the axle in the jeep next time your heading out to the desert out here. You may have to take out the rear seat but it's doable.

Welcome to Palmdale. You will see lots of Jeeps in the area, there are but a few of us that actually take them off road. You will be located in a great spot. Rowher is the only thing that is close but all others are a few hrs away. Once you make it out to Death Valley you will realize that you made the right decision to own a Jeep. Perfect vehicle to own out here and explore.

Ok so Saturday the family and I took 47th street south and just found some trails close to home we ended up playing for about 5hrs and ended up on the Angeles Forrest hwy, seen a couple other jeeps out playing too. All-in-all we had a blast, our first time in mountains. Most of our pics don't do the grades justice but it was fun. Also thx guys for the welcome I look forward to getting out in groups and really testing it!

Looks like you found the old tower hill. My son and I road dirt bikes there for many years. You can take that trail to the east for a long ride. Wait till they open all the forest roads that are closed this spring. Good times ahead. Great for a stock rig.

One thing is for sure, you will be easy to spot in that rig.

It won't be stock for long. ;-)

My neighbor said that it has rained twice in 2 years and hasn't snowed in years, we move here and it's sprinkled twice in a week! There was a drought in Wichita (where we're from) when I ordered my jeep it, it arrived and flooded three times in a month! I had fun in the floods though until The local authorities started citing us for playing in the flood waters
Here's some pics from three separate floods: I helped push a guy out of the flood, the black Denali was stuck in the mud, and the white dualie was a failed attempt at pulling it out with two trucks, not to mention the tubing and wading, all in all it was a fun first month of owning my first Jeep!

My wife's at work, I got my Valentine's Day shopping for her and my daughter done early this morning. I picked up my kids from school and dropped them off at a Valentine's Day party. So I treated myself to a little Valentine's Day wheelin! Can you think of a better man-gift for Valentine's Day!?!

I recognize that hill. Drive by it everyday.

Never went off road there. Gotta try it out.

Beat me to it toad! A JKU, even in stock form, should be able to handle that rock with all tires on the ground for sure

BTW, welcome to the area! I am a little less than 100 miles North of you in Ridgecrest

We need to get you out with some other jeepers so they can show you how and why to disconnect your swaybar. ;-) You will have much better articulation, even with it being stock.

Yeah, if the weather holds will be going up to red rock this Saturday to play in the canyons.

Weather guessers are calling for rain this Saturday, believe it when I see it but if it occurs we will be up in Red Rock canyon.

Well unfortunately I picked up a second job for a little while to try to get a little more financially ahead so my free time is pretty much non existent until further notice, and the free time I get will be so sporadic I'll probably just stay in the garage and work on my bike. But as soon as I get time I really want to go out with some guys from here and play, I've never got to go wheelin with other jeeps!

Bike?

Does that mean motorcycle (dirt or street) or bicycle (mountain or road).

Any of the 4 and you are in the middle of some great riding areas.
