Need help 7/9/09 Moreno Valley

Hello, I am needing help with my wonderful Jeep. She is peeing oil all over. I am pretty sure it is from the rear main seal and I have read the Hayes Manual and a couple of write ups on forums. But I think this one might be more than I can tackle on my own. Thursday 7/9 is my only day off this week and I leave for a camping trip Monday morn. I can pay for assitance with beer and pizza. You can even pick the brand of beer and pizza place to deliver. I think I have all the tools that will be needed for the job. If you have something you need to do to your Jeep but don't have the space, feel free to bring it along and we will take care of it also. Please help!!! I know this should be easy, but I am not getting it lately. Think my skull is getting thicker.

edit: I just replaced the oil pan gasket a couple of days ago, so I know that is in good shape.

Jeff

If I was closer Jeff, I'd help. Sorry your having troubles. Are you going to drop the tranny or pull the motor? Or can this be done without doing that? This sounds like a good size job. Are you going to replace the clutch while you have it apart?

The rear main seal is a two piece unit. According to the manual, I do not need to pull the motor or tranny. But I do need to drop the oil pan again. Thanks for the thoughts.

Sorry Jeff, we have some junk to deal with this weekend. But I completely believe if you have the tools this is not beyond your scope of ability. Just remember, when I installed my lift, I didn't know there were two sets of wrenches.

Thanks guys, got the problem solved. I was dumb and read the Hayes maunal for guidance. It stated to put soap on the rear hump of the oil pan and install. Well, I did that and that is where my leak was coming from. I repulled the pan, and cleaned up everything again, re-siliconed the entire pan with a new gasket and the problem is taken care of. I gotta learn to just use commen sence rather than a manual. Damn thing has gotten my confused more than once, haha.
