First get a map of your area. Find Kelbaker road, follow it north from the amboy area under I-40 to the old Vulcan mines. Awesome wheeling and camping. Lots to see. Otherwise, head from Pioneertown towards big bear lake. Too many trails to list up there.

1 hr. from Twentynine Palms is Johnson Valley - All levels of Jeeping, plus the world famous King of the Hammers event - in February.
1.5 hrs. from Twentynine Palms is Truckhaven Hills - All levels of Jeeping, plus the world famous Tierra del sol Jeep event - in March.

About 20 min. from Twentynine Palms is the Old Dale Mining District. Over the past 12 years, I have led 4WD runs of this region, and have had nothing but fun times on these trails. The hardest one being the Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail.

Once, I was running this trail with the Rubicon Owners of CA club, and a group of Land Rovers could not even make it up to the trailhead!

Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail

I think with Joshua Tree National Park and the Old Dale Mining District next door, you will have plenty of good times and with just a little driving, even more Jeep fun! I think you better get your Jeep ready for some serious good times.

Here are a few more pictures of the Old Dale Mining District

Berdoo Canyon Road (opposite end of Joshua Tree Natl Park)

Heave Ho!

My friend Mike's Rubicon LJ

Lots of twist! No locker...

Berdoo Canyon is a great place to take a group for the day.

Joshua Tree has lots of place to hike and climb on rocks

After you cross through the National Park, you can leave the park along a dirt road that sometimes accumulates standing water and mud.

The muddy section of the trail is at Mission Well.

Along Gold Crown Rd., there is a deep depression where you can fling the slop as well.

My TrXus MTs with plenty of mud attached!

The JK giving it a go...

He made it!

Goodyear MT/R's even packed in the mud! But, not the MTR/K's!

You will enjoy this park with all of the great four wheeling nearby!

Mike getting ready to show what a locked Rubicon LJ on 33" MTR/K's can do!

No mud packed it...AT ALL!
