I checked my calendar, and the only weekend in February that I have available (actually my only available weekend before the M&G) is 2/26-2/27.

I've been wanting to return to Odessa Canyon/Bismarck Canyon in Calico. I don't know what else is out there to do on a second day if we were to camp overnight, other than doing the same trail in the opposite direction.

There's Berdoo Canyon in Joshua Tree, which can be run forwards and backwards in a day. I think there are other trails out there to do on a second day if we camp at J-Tree, but I'm not familiar with any of them.

Then there's always Last Chance Canyon and Goler Gulch that we could return to. Maybe run that one day, camp in the area, then the next day for those who've never been, take an easy trip over to Schmidt Tunnel then out through Opal Canyon.

We can also do any of these as a day run without camping.

Any other ideas? I only suggested areas I'm familiar with.

J-Tree is a nice area, but the thing with the Berdoo Canyon trail is that there are only like three obstacles, and they're not even very difficult at all. There was even a 4x4 tour bus on the trail when I was there. The videos on YouTube crack me up because these non-Jeepers are making a big deal out of nothing. So on second thought, I hardly think Berdoo Canyon would be worth the drive for most of us. I guess that's why I hardly see any Jeep groups going out there.

Yup....couldn't agree more.
Truckhaven is more my favorite.
Never sure when I can make a jeep though, it depends what's going on and if I can afford the fuel costs. I will keep in touch.

If you guys decide on the Last Chance Canyon and Goler Gulch area I'll be able to show up.

That's a good trip that I'd sure like to do again, but we've got rain in the forecast for this weekend and desert canyons are not where you want to be when there's any chance of rain.

I was talking with someone else a few days ago about possibly hitting Calico this weekend, but same story there, so no go.

I just might end up spending this weekend doing taxes, paying bills and taking care of other boring household administrative stuff.
