I know it's been long since I posted here ... my Jeep is out of service from about a month now.

Head cracked which couldn't be repaired ... so had to order parts to build a 4.7L Stroker

Everything is going to be brand new in this engine except block, connecting rods, oil pan and valve cover.

Just waiting for few parts so I could start building it. Should be done in about 3 weeks (if the machine shop doesn't take long time for block work). Give another 2 weeks for engine break-in.

So end of august/beginning of september ... I should be good to go again

Lincoln, Ca. just 20 minutes north of Sacramento. Thought I'd bump this thread to see if there are still any NorCal Jeepers around who want to ride.

Prairie City SVRA
Jeegar check out this site ^
Prairie City is probably 20-30 minutes from you. They claim to have everything from 4x4 dirtroads to Rubicon-esk trails. Sounds like a good place to get your feet wet?

there is some talk of a strawberry snow run but nothin set up yet. im not a big fan of snow runs because you spend all day in either bordom or sure terror hoping your not going to spend the night in the jeep. half the trips ive been on we spend all day trying to get out the other end of the trial only to find out its impassable. then its starting to get dark and we have to turn around and do the whole dam thing again! its dark ,cold and the snow behind you has turned to ice and your beat but it was an adventure. your tug straps sure get a work out. the key to making it thru is to have the first guy trailblazing not to spin his tires in the powder. go slow and when the tires spins stop back up a creep forward again over and over. if the leader goes thru like he is in a mud race your day is done. low air and slow is the way to go.

Is there anywhere to wheel near Tracy?
I lived in Modesto for about 20 years, I can't think of anyplace out in that direction to go. Then again, I wasn't looking at the time either.

isnt carnegy out that way? you could go to hollister as well. if its rocks then its east of you to deervalley, slickrock, strawberry pass, niagara, eagle peak, dodge ridge . a good book is calfornia backroads & 4-wheel drive trails to see whats in your area

Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation park is just outside of Tracy and Frank Raines park outside of Patterson. I haven't been to either in years. About 20 years ago I just about roll my first jeep at Frank Raines park, climbing hills in the rain. I have done some wheeling up by Bear Valley, Cabbage Patch and Black Springs roads.

Keep me in mind on you next outting. I should have my lockers by spring.
