ok its time to do some wheeling! sat 1/22/11 is the chili cookoff off icehouse road. a local club has put out an invitation to join them. im going to be there.
there meeting at the Fresh Pond Chevron off hwy 50 at 830 AM. The plan is to sample the chili cook off and run some local roads that comply with the seasonal road closure.

they have good breakfast burritos there at fresh pond

im not sure what the snow conditions are like up there but it should be fun. you could get a chance to meet some other wheelers and pick up some info on mods you might want to do in the future. as for now you need tow hooks front and back, tow strap, spare tire(believe it or not some people dont carry spares)tools, shovel, extra food, warm clothes, sleeping bad encase you get stranded.

ok you lameoids you missed another trip! the snow had a 4 " crust on top with deep powder below which was different than the other snow trips ive been on over the years. it made it impossible to blaze Any new trails but there was a long enuff road already blazed to enjoy. the weather was perfect as well as the chili at the cook off.

i dont know if any of you would be interested but im doing another one on feb 5th i believe so ill give you coach potato's one more chance.

snow run

I spent the weekend on my back installing a 3 link up front and a 4 link in the rear on some new to me D44's , a lot more work than I figured. I'll have to past on 2/5 run, but should be ready after that...

Wish I could've made it but I've gotta look into getting the tow hooks installed...not sure who even does that. And just realized I have a cracked bushing that may be causing the recent death wobble so once I get that done maybe I'll be ready for the 2/5 run...

talk to a local 4x4 shop and they can supply and install them. do a search and see where others have put them on your style of jeep. if you were closer i would be glad to install them for you. as for the next trip i hopen it snows again.

iron mountian run

im going on a road patrol on iron mountain road with a club i belong to. they have put out an invite to all so here it is:

February 5, 2011

Meeting at Pollock Pines Subway 830 and departing at 9AM.

This is a casual day - everyone is welcome. We usually try to park where snow play can occur. If you arrive later, just drive up until you see us parked!

Just yesterday got my first Jeep - 2010 Unlimited Rubicon. Very anxious to see what this baby can do. Also it would be nice to meet fellow jeep owners and see how different rigs build up.

How about trip to Hollister, it has from mild to wild staff for all to play.
I need to put another 500 miles on my jeep and then I am game for anything.

Reporting from Napa, CA... Don't give up bigsquat.
Too bad there isn't a N. Cal forum to check in on.
I usually play around on Cow Mtn or long off-road drives out in Mendocino Forest. I'm looking forward to some Tahoe trips this year, but need to reserve Rubicon trips (31" tires currently.)

uncle toms tomorrow 3-11-11

i need a wing man for tomorrows snow run to uncle toms, must have at least 33" tires and 1 locker. some friends of mine are comming up from the bay area and are camping at uncle toms after they run around in the snow. i dont want to spend the night and need someone that wants to do a day trip. not to smart to wheel alone up there on the way back out.

ive been on more snow trips than i can count and every time the snow is a little different depending on water content and air temp. there is no way a jeep like mine could make it to ice house from uncle toms last weekend. it took 2 toyota trucks with 37" tires duel t cases in the lowest gear with one truck pushing the other to keep going . once you get the trail blazed by someone then its possible ,but no way a jeep like mine could do it. if i let my tires get of the packed tracks it would only go a few feet. it is like driving on 2 wood planks and have to pay attention. without well equiped rigs to leed the way with a sensable driver . if the first guy is a hot dog then your trip will be short. no spinning of tires and making deep ruts. there where some jeeps that where in there the day b4 us and there were idiots. they went off the road and tore up the landscape and make it bad for the rest of us. they made it in for a while but with there driving skills they had to turn around once it got to deep and full throttle wasnt working.

i have 2 lockers, 35" tires and aired down to 7 lbs.

Hey, I am in HMB too :-), but I am new to this area. I think I saw one trail off of 92, its not long and maybe private road, but I tried it once about a month ago. Other than that I don't know much around here.

It is the road to the right where the little winery is on 92. Just keep going straight past the winery and little ranch.

That's good to know! Need to keep your info handy. I'm in montara and have been looking for someplace to get work done that I'm not comfortable doing myself.
