looks good!

So I f'd up my hardtop a little bit this last weekend and put some dents in the tailgate and added some scratches to my baby. That's what I get for not asking my wife to take steroids before helping take the top off... Oh well... Today I built a hoist and it works pretty good... What do you guys think about this run, top or no top? Asking now so if my hoist doesn't work I can have my wife pump some iron for a month to help.

My wife had the same problem. No dents but some scratches. Like I said before I'll go with no top or softtop. Look about getting something like this JK4D | SpiderWebShade.com I love mine and it can stay on with the hard top on.

Did you get the one that goes over the front seats only or the front and back? I am looking at the one that goes over the front and back along with the rear wrap.

I am also looking at the smittybuilt cargo wrap and it looks like the spiderweb shade can go over the front seats with the cargo over the back seats and very back...

too many decisions hahaha

I got the one that goes over the front and back. I plan to just pull it off when the hardtop goes back on because I've heard it's a pain to line up the bolt holes for the soundbar bolts and you have to disconnect it up front at least temporarily anyway in order to get to all the latches for the freedom panels.

Add "89YJBuilder" to the list. He's on Pirate, so I told him I'd keep him posted.

Just returned from high lakes. I need to say it was a blast. I will be uploading pics and a couple videos in a bit here just taking a break.

The main trail was not bad could run most of it in 2wd there are some more difficult parts however all but one have bypasses and the one with no bypass has plenty of rockst to stack looks like people have been doing it for a long time.

didnt get though every trail just ran out of time. there are a couple trails with more difficult parts and the lakes area amazing. I could have gotten to more trails but morris lake was to tempting and couldnt pass it up and thats where the guys were camping so no real choice.

I will get the pics up and give a better description later this evening. Also re prepared for dust alot of it.

ok so the begining of a long post here goes.

I will start with a picture of the trail map of the area cant get a good zoom with it on photobucket but wanted to post it up.

the trails we ran are all labeled on this map. i have another map but the trails are marked different than that map and this all trails have the same markers as it is mapped

so trail 611 is the main trail that runs though the area it is a mild trail with a few difficult parts that can be bypassed except one area i ran this trail in 4hi with no lockers except table rock to get a feel of the difficulty even table rock did not need lockers and was not to bad pic and video below.

table rock

there is also tons of rocks that people at table rock that people stack to get stock vehicles though ran into some of the friends of the highlakes crowd and they say its a common thing in the year they get stacked making it a very easy obstacle. This trail goes way back into lassen national forrest and is the main trail to get to all the lakes.

they also told me the route trail 519 to bear and pipejam lakes is a really good trail and fairly challenging but i did not have the time to run this trail as everyone needed to leave and i didnt want to attempt it myself.

the next trails are 613 and 614 these trails go to campbell and long lakes the trails are fairly easy with some moderate portions and bypasses around the harder areas with shallow water crossings.

from there you can take trail 612 to saddle lake which is a trail that could be describes as mildly difficult and can be extreme at the stair case. I say this because it looks like some one tried to crawl the far left and came off destroying their oil pan.

it was a fun run but would recommend 31's and a rear locker at minimum.

now for the last and most difficult. this trail is listed as "EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!" and i quote. this is a very tough 1/4 mile of morris lake took about 2.5 hours to drive out, and we went in at night so it was even sketchier then but since everyone else was already down we made the trip. i will not be running this trail with anyone who would like but would be happy to spot people that want to. Winches were used by all vehicles the pics do it no justice

last obstacle exiting reference

this was tough but with moving a couple of rocks i was able to get up without being winched

this could have been easier but he was afraid of ruining his fender flares

all pics can be viewed at this link highlakes trip 2 pictures by dandroze1 - Photobucket

ok that does it for now. hope its good I am fairly tired right now but have done the best i could at this time and again this trip can be epic with tons of possibilities. pics of the lakes and one of our camps are in the album.

and if anyone is wondering the strap is on my hood due to the drivers side latch busting on the way up from the wind pressure of a passing semi in the oncoming lane on hwy65.

wasn't ready to let it ruin my trip.

the main trail really isn't bad at all only the one part with the table and 613-614 really are not bad at all.

the morris trail was way out of my league, but knowing we had 3 winches and plenty of recovery gear and spare parts with us i went for it anyway. That trail is hard, i was able to get through most of it but did need a winch at one point to get to the top of the 1st section.
