I don't have a CB, and I don't believe the non-Jeeps have any either. We can PM cell phone numbers if you're interested in going, and we usually establish a meeting point in town.

Hmmm, may have to get me some Pismo time in. I will know for sure as it gets closer.

Quick update - just spoke with a friend who went out last weekend. You WILL need to purchase overnight camping passes in advance. (I'm not sure about day pass availability)

You can get them online through Reserve America: Campground Details - OCEANO DUNES SVRA, CA - ReserveAmerica - [ca]

Or by calling 1-800-444-7275 at least 48hrs in advance.

Do not be fooled if any website says there are hundreds of spots open. It's a popular camp out during the summer and spots are booked quickly.

I'd love to get a good group together - I did a run similar to this one a couple years ago and have a group of Jeeps and Jeep friends and we see each other at least once a year to continue the tradition. It's a great time and offers a great experience for people of all skill levels.

The Libation Station made its first appearance on this forum on that run, although the table was just called the party table at that time.

I won't be able to get away for the whole weekend for this one, and it's too far for me for a day run. Have fun! I hope you can get a good group together.

There are quite a few inexpensive and nearby hotels if any of you would rather not camp. It's an option if campsites aren't available and then you just need day passes. Since school will have started in most areas, you might not have the crowds to deal with

Day passes are $5 and overnight is $10. Usually there's plenty of room, unless it's a 3-day weekend, then it becomes a circus out there.

with a heavy heart I have to say I can't make it out this weekend. I hope some people can go out and have a run - if you do, take some pics for me. some stuff has come up and I just can't make it.

going to try to organize a run out to the dunes another weekend soon.

I live in Santa Barbara and I'm thinking about driving up for a day or 2. How do we meet up? What type of stuff do you guys plan on doing out there? I've rented ATV's at Pismo on multiple occasions but haven't had a change to bring my Jeep out there yet. My Sahara is as stock as it gets, but I have yet to encounter something I cant' drive over (or around)

For anyone that's going: a great meet up is the Vons parking lot (exit the 101 at Grand and head towards the ocean).

As long as you have 4wd you should be fine. Go through the river crossing slowly and cautiously (preferably at low tide) - watch other vehicles go through and pick a shallow spot. You can head back in the dunes, just be sure to always have a buddy with you. Remember to get a flag for your Jeep and be cautious of ATVs and dirt bikes.

Have fun and be safe! Stay tuned for a winter run.

Any suggestions for a inexpensive flag mount? perhaps something I can put together myself or amazon primeable?

Gracias

Well...I don't know if this will help much - but I've seen people use their CB mount and pick up some hardware to attach it.

I have an aftermarket tire swing which if you're looking at it while it's open makes a triangle. I have several zip ties that I've attached to two places on the bars and I thread the flag pole through it.

Not sure what kind of set up you have, but zip ties are always a cheap good start.
