For anyone that had to miss out on my March 8-10th run, I’m going again---- April 5-7th!
**DIRECTIONS AND INFO:**
The address to the ghost town is 36600 Ghost Town Road Yermo, CA 92398. TO GET TO OUR CAMP: Go 100 yards past the Ghost Town. Doran Scenic Rd is on the left. You’ll see the triangular looking ranger sign encased in glass. Make that left and keep going straight down the dirt road. You'll run right into us. We're going to camp off Doran Scenic Rd before you go around the bend to the Gatekeeper. There's plenty of room for RVs and tents. It's dry camping. No facilities, water etc. We'll run all the major trails!
If you want to come out Saturday, please be at camp by 930am.
**YOUR RIG SHOULD HAVE**: Tow points; front and rear, sliders, armor, be lifted and at least 31's..33's are better. Lockers are not required, but helpful in a couple spots. If you don't have them, no biggie. Worse case is you get a strap/winch.
Look for my Yellow Happy Face Flag sticking out of the rocks in front of my camp. My rig is a white TJ, pink windshield banner, American Flag Painted Diff Covers and American Flag flying driver.
CB- Ch 4. ( I don't get cell service once out in the canyon.)
Dude! Where the hell ya been!!?? Back is heeled....enough to wheel unk: Thank you for asking :flowers:
I've got other things going on Friday and Sunday. No can do. Got this one going, HV party in April as well...and plan on Cougar Buttes beginning of May sometime and opening weekend of Miller Jeep Trail in May as well...
I'm down for whatever. I know my rig is more capable then I am. It will go anywhere, especially by then. It's just my confidence level that's all. I'm just paranoid about any major damage, IE axles, diffs, etc. eventually I would like to do full floating axles.. Anyway we will be up late fri, early Sunday. Have a memorial service to go to so this works out great. I'm excited to wheel calico and see some familiar faces
Hey everyone. It's windy here came up about 4pm. Sure wish I was coming back with you guys. Dave and I drove past your camp site. Someone was there. I checked out the gatekeeper and there was some fresh oil there. Looked like a leaky diff. I got Stan and Scott to spot me tomorrow after the run so wish me luck and I hope my jeep is not still wedged in there when you roll in.
Way more rocks on the trail than in oct when I ran it with you. The rains have made it much more interesting. You guys are going to have a ball. Gatekeeper was just not doable in my jeep Scott and Stan walked it and said not to try it. I didn't want to be that guy so I backed out of the slot and went to the motel. Bummer. Maybe when I'm on 40's...

I ran it a couple weeks ago leading the group of 20...and I still thought there were too many rocks stacked. If nothing else, hopefully you guys kicked some out.
It wasn't rocks stacked as much as huge boulders in the middle of the trails, weird, like there was a big earthquake out here and the boulders rolled into the trails.
The trip to Wall Street was fun, I'd never been there. Good move on backing out of the Gatekeeper Bob, your jeep is still in one piece. Btw, the Toyota rock Krawler didn't make it it last night either. Blew a tire off the wheel and didn't make it half way. He was very well equipped too.
Everything Lori and Rob have ever posted about Calico is true! It's not only awesome it's beautiful. Mike and I were laughing at the fact that for the past 14 years we have driven right by it on our way to Lake Havasu and never knew it existed.
We had not planned on doing Odessa and Doran on Friday, figured we would do a little site seeing with Jeff. After talking to Dan and Bill, they assured me the Jeep was good to go and they would get us through. We told Scott we would follow his lines since he has the same Jeep, he was awesome.
Those guys got us through it all and let us know what to expect as we approached different obstacles. I can't thank them enough!
I said I didn't want any trail renamed Pumpkin eater after me, and there isn't :thumb: We had a couple tough spots at the end I think it was around the rock garden, I guess a bunch of new stuff has rolled in over the last couple weeks. Either that or some type of small flash flood came through and washed the soil away, that's what everyone was saying. We weren't sure of the line to take and got in a little spot Dan spotted us out of.
All in all, I can say it was amazing! And anyone thinking of running this with no sliders should not!!! My skids, sliders and diff covers got a hell of a workout, the orange paint on a couple rocks is from the Poison spyders.....not the Jeep itself
Glad you guys had fun Lisa. I can't wait for this run in a couple weeks. I start jonsing after a week to get back out there. I know Kenny is down for a night run up Odessa..we'll see if anyone else is when we get there April 5th.
Yeah your gonna have fun. There are a lot more rocks than when you led us in Oct. I had a good time and got to meet Lisa and Mike. Didn't get to talk too much maybe next time.
Ain't nothin' like being camped in the canyon with no other peeps around! Plus, I pay so much in gas to get there and back, I always prefer to camp FREE. But that's just me
I agree & prefer camping free too but too many want to connect their RVs & trailers. I have far more time camping on the dirt road leading to Doran & Odessa but my last couple of trips have been camped in the campground where there are real showers & toilets... which aren't bad as I am discovering.
Damn..be a walk in the park for you. Point and drive
Bernie..how's it lookin'? I got a buddy from another site coming and I think he's in for Friday and Saturday night camping..but it looks like he's the only one..which is cool, but it'd be nice to be able to sit around the fire with you and V too
My steering is freakin leaking all over the place. I'm going to try and see if my Seabee buddy can look at it tomorrow. I need to get it fixed asap, and need either the whole box or kit to replace the seals. Not good. Looked at the prices for a box. Holy $hit! Hopeful it's not the way I need to go.
I'll be in HV today with Rob and a couple others to scope out the site for the HV party..will post up about it later on that thread
