Thanks guys! I figured that trip would make a good video.

Such a huge difference in this trip for me. The first time I ran it was my first run with a lift and 33's and some of those hills scared the crap out of me! This time I was able to relax and enjoy the run.

Also, even though 2N17X isn't known for being extremely difficult, I found it interesting that the JK 4 doors couldn't make it over that one spot near the top of that one hill and had to back down. I'm curious to try it again in the spring to see if the weather levels that part out, or makes it even harder.

Rick that spot on the hill climb is just better suited for rigs with 100 inch wb and down...or over the 111 wb mark....its been that way for years. The 4 door Jk falls in that stop gap and unless you have some major ground clearance once your four tires fall in the wholes your done...
We/VV4w have made countless trips to that spot and have jack hammered the bedrock to try and change it But that trail sees some much traffic that after the first few rigs go through its dug out again....it's just the way it is I guess.

I know it maybe last minute but anyone up for a Big Bear run this Thursday the 10th or Friday the 11th?

Looking to do gold Mnt and Holcomb. Other suggestions are welcome.

We posted a run on the 40th B day bash for Friday in Big bear. Were doing GM and JB if you want to join us....we will be getting a late start because we have to drop off our MHs at 7 Oaks and then head up. It will be close to noon by the time we hit the trail.

Oh ok. I was planning on being there with you all on Saturday. Wasn't sure what trail you were running then or what type of off-roading you would do the first day there.

How close is 7 oaks to Big Bear?

From Redlands to 7 Oaks its about 30 Miles and from the campground at 7 Oaks to the trail head of Gold Mountain its about 28 miles, so 7 Oaks is about the half way point.

Huh. Ok. Maybe since you all are doing the those trails with a late start I may just look into camping that night. Interesting.... I'll have to think about it. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that gap was a bitch! Of course, even after watching other 4 doors back down, I figured I'd be the one guy that could make it. No luck of course. I'll still have to try it next time, but won't get my hopes up.

I used to say there wasn't anywhere my 4 door couldn't make it that a 2 door could. Looks like I found one.

Ha....you better make it the same day....last time we worked on that spot was a month or so ago and the very next day a bunch of us decided to 2N17x and so on instead of CH.....there was not a 4 door or even the Lj's making it to the top that day....

Are you talking about that one hill that was really loose? If so, I remember one JK 4 door that made it (on 37's) and a white LJ made it as well...

Ha! Ok. The same day it is in! Let's plan it so that only suicideking and I can attend and be the only 4 doors. That way we sat say we did it and all others fail. :hahaha: how epic is that.

Ya, my first attempt was in low gear. That was not going to happen. I made it up the second attempt with more speed. I forget the guys name who made it up with the 4 door JK on 37's, but he did not seem to have a problem. The next 4 door on 35's needed a winch.
I'm looking forward to doing it again. Last time I hit my TC skid. I want to see what happens now that my LJ lost some belly fat

Hey...I apologize....I was remembering your first attempt at it. Was it Rubicon Madness in the 4 door you're thinking of?
Yeah that hill climb is best suited for the shorter wb and definitely need the wheel speed...no 4:1 TC.
I'm super excited to checkout the new mods you've done to your rig....

Gotcha....

I always throw it off to the side. Personally I don't like wood. It can splinter and shatter causing issues.

Takes the difficulty out of that area as well.

I'm literally 1 for four on making it up. Think Big Vic was there the one time I made it. Had to hit it at bump speed with the sidewalls climbing to the left of the bump to make it. There was a guy in a two door that must've tried it 8 times at 6000rpms. Thought he might roll it.. Every time I back down it I cry inside. Lol

Yeah, that guy was nuts, he was on the gas hard. Thought something was going to break for sure. I gave it a good college try but just couldn't get over the hump.
I just couldn't drive past it without at least trying.

Nice! Yeah I felt like I would have needed a lot of speed to make it. Felt like if I had enough speed, I'd be in danger of breaking something. Now I'm more motivated to get 37's lol!

I'll have to post the video clip of me trying that I edited out. One time I hit it hard and Zombie was filming. When I hit hard he said 'what was that?' or something like that. I'll have to post the FAIL video now...

Ya. It sounded like thunder. To here that way at the bottom you had to have hit hard. I do not see how nothing broke.

I think your talking about Ron from Redlands motorsports who made it up and he's on more then 37's. The guy who needed a winch was on 37's and a friend of mine, so I won't mention Wayne's name. And yes Rick, when you bottomed out, it was quite loud at the bottom of the hill. It's not everyday us 2-door'ers get to grandstand, so we have to take advantage of it. 2 door'ers forever. Mark.
