Pismo dunes

I am a first time jeep owner and have very little off road time. I have 2012 wrangler unlimited freedom edition all stock. What are some things I need to know about going to the dunes

- Air down, dont go to 20lbs go to 11-13lbs, you need to spread out the tires.
- Dont make to tight of fast turns or you may loose a bead on the tires.
- Park on flat land or downhill.
- if you start scaling dunes, turn with the way the sand pushes you, do not turn into the push of the sand when you are sideways on a dune.

I dont think I left anything out. Have fun and be safe out there.
I copied this from another thread that I posted this in.

At pismo keep tour head swinging and looking for other people. There are too many people ob rentals that don't know how to ride so be careful.

Very true. be sure to check the tide times and you have to have a flag to be out there.

I live here and try not to go out there due to too many tourists. This is actually the best time of year (not thanksgiving weekend though) due to school being in and the cool weather.

Don't forget to take some glamor shots of your Jeep on the beach while you're there.

I'm hoping that was taken awhile ago. If you were in town and didn't tell us it would be sad. We could have taken you out for a nice steak dinner at Jocko's

I live 6 miles from the Oceano on ramp and have yet to take any glamour shots, guess I better put it on my list.

DO NOT DRIVE STRAIGHT UP AND OVER A DUNE!!!!! Ride along side it first to see what's on the other side. I've duned for years just not in a jeep. If you can't see over it do not drive over it. Keep your momentum up to stay on top of the sand. Run your tire pressure around 10psi. A whip is required. A light at the top if your duning at night. Wash off all aluminum ASAP due to the salt in the air. It will put it. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THE IDIOTS NOT LOOKING. Good luck.

Ok, your good then. If you do ever come up this way though, be sure and let us know so we can try to get together and at least have a drink
