Turdhurdler looks to be getting some details figured out about this next camping trip. We will be heading out July 30th and heading home August 1st. The proposed idea is to arrive Friday afternoon/evening and head into town for dinner at Big Bear Brewery. Then on Saturday running John Bull and Gold Mountain with a potluck dinner to follow. There are a few options for campgrounds that Turd has mentioned. These include: Heart Bar, Barton Flats, and Hanna Flat. We are also looking for a few more experienced drivers to volunteer as trail leaders. As of now, this is who we have coming along. Feel free to post up if you are coming, what you can bring to the potluck, and any other suggestions!

The Crew:
Turd and Mrs. Turd (a couple possible friends)
Stevens243 and Mrs. Stevens243
Unlimited
Cons_Table and Mrs. Cons_Table

Maybe we can do one the same weekend on the "right" coast...? How about it east coasters, who wants to get together somewhere for some wheeling and camping?

^^^I know you were messin' wit me Brian. You big meanie!! Actually they are members on this forum, but have only posted a couple of times.

So does everyone want to do the pot luck again? To me it seems easier to have each member bring a little to share than to try to pack for each meal.

My goal is to have the replacement TJ ready in time for this trip but I still have several things to do to get it ready so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope I can get it ready in time!

Right now it's missing one of its two locker compressors & the other wasn't installed when I got it, there's no rear tow hitch for my pop-up trailer (installing one the way this TJ is configured won't be easy), and there are no skidplates. I have some used skidplates but I have to fab up some mounting hardware to get the engine skid installed.

Just in case I can't get the tow hitch installed in time, will you guys be camped anywhere close to where the wife & I can rent a cabin at?

Was doing a little looking, and I think there are a few places to stay in Fawnskin. According to a site I looked at about Hanna Flat, we will only be about 2 and a half miles northwest of Fawnskin.

We are staying at the Hanna Flat campground. Site fee is 24.00 per night for tent camping. Not sure about RV prices. Let me know if you wish to have tent or RV site and I will set it up. I have space 65 already reserved and Mr. Unlimited is booking space 63 as an RV site. So use the link below to choose a site and I will set it up.

Here is a link to the campground, Campground Details - Hanna Flat (CA), CA - ReserveAmerica - [nrso]

I am getting excited for the Meet n Greet. We have a couple of new members joining us for the fun and a few experienced members. This is gonna be fun. Woo Hoo!!!

Dang Cons_table, you responded faster than me. Follow the link and let me know what site you like. We are not too far from the restrooms and not too close to the road.

Maybe I should have posted this here....

Thanks for the invite! I like the sound of the Meet and Greet in Big Bear on July 30.
I'll mark that on the calander.

Do I need to bring anything besides the jeep and my co-pilot Jylli (11 yo daughter).
Food, drinks, etc...
Are you s Tent Camper group? I have a tent, air matress, etc
Are there other kids at the meet and greet that are ~11 y.o.?

Let me know what I can bring to the Pot Luck

Thanks!!

As far as camping goes, I believe you can bring a tent or a camper...whichever you prefer. We are still working on setting up the potluck from the sound of things. Keep checking back and Im sure there will be updates on the potluck.

You can reserve through here...Campground Details - Hanna Flat (CA), CA - ReserveAmerica - [nrso]

Turdhurdler set mine up for me, send him a PM and he may do the same for you

Rubidubi, most of us are tent camping. Not sure if there will be other children, but we are a pretty friendly crowd. We try to keep the meets family friendly just like on the forum. As for the reservation of a spot, there is a link above in post # 32 giving the camp site info.

For things to bring, we ask that you bring a Jeep in good repair, with all safety gear in working order, recovery points front and rear, at least a tow strap, basic tools, first aid kit, etc. Pretty much what other groups would ask for.

We look forward to having you join us and enjoying Big Bear.

Jeff
