Recently, there has been some interest in a Rowher Flats run. So the 24th we are going to head out there and see how the weather has been treating the place.

We will cover the three main trails on one side of the mountain and the one trail that takes you down to Bouquet Canyon.

.
GPS Coordinates of the meeting place at Rowher Flats.
34.526235,-118.383266
Google Map with directions from the 14
Meet time 9:00 A.M
CB Channel 31

Requirements:
-- 4x4 in good working order. (non-jeeps are welcome)
-- Full size spare tire

Recommendations:
-- Never a bad idea to have an oil pan skid and rock sliders at least. But there is no crawling on this trail so they aren't necessary.
-- CB Radio
-- water
-- snacks

Rowher Flats is, in my opinion, fairly easy for the most part. It's basically fire roads with a few optional bonus sections that offer a little more challenge. That being said, and considering recent events on the trail, I feel it is important to say that even easy off-roading can be dangerous if not taken seriously. This should be a good time though, and with all the rain, there might actually be some green grass and trees.

FYI, This is an article from LA Times about a Death incident at Rowher Flats.

This is why people should not drink on the trail and not go out alone.

I thought I'll share this article with you.

Joe.

[From L.A. Times:

25-year-old woman was killed Saturday when the Jeep in which she was riding went out of control on a steep hillside near Santa Clarita and rolled over as it plunged 1,500 feet to the bottom of a ravine, the California Highway Patrol said.
The woman, a Redlands resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said Sunday in a news release. Her name was not released pending notification of family.
The driver, a 28-year-old Granada Hills resident, apparently was attempting to climb the hill when he lost control of the modified 1996 Jeep Cherokee, the CHP said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered major injuries, the release said. He was placed under arrest and taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to the release.
"Alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor," the CHP said.
The accident occurred about 2 p.m. on Lookout Trail, north of Texas Canyon, in the Rowher Flats Off-Highway Vehicle area, a popular destination for off-road enthusiasts. ]
