I am looking to run the Rubicon Trail but I am having a hard time driving or shipping two jeeps from Boston. It looks like Barlow offers trips that will cost about $3,000 per jeep for two nights three days on the trail. Does anyone else offer a straight rental or possible a guided trip like Barlows? Any help would be much appreciated. Dropping 6gs on a weekend seems a bit much but shipping two jeeps isn't cheaper....
Any alternatives or should I just go to MOAB and rent jeeps there?
Drive them babies. Only 6000 miles and way less than $6k's. I drove from NY. Took me 2.5 days to California and 2 nites at a motel 6.
maybe someone else would pipe in on possible rentals.

I agree with Tony, make a trip out of it if you can and drive them across the country. You will want your Jeep when you get to the Rubicon. I personally wouldn't want to worry about someone else's Jeep going over the Trail it would ruin the experience for me.
There has got to be a cost effective way to get your jeeps across country. There is no way I would want to drive a TJ that far, but I wouldn't want to run the Rubicon in any other Jeep but my own. Its a great trail, cant wait to do it again!
Buy some good tires, the good kind; not the crappy ones and you should be able to enjoy the ride. Make sure the sidewall is not too thin and soft, Make sure it can work everywhere and not be exclusive to some places or too heavy.
Good tires = good ride from boston.
Bad tires = bad ride.
we all know the good tires.

Note to self : eh ... where you gonna Carry the trail tires...?
I agree with BillG.OTD. I would think that you would want to run it in your own Jeeps. Conquering the Rubicon Trail is an achievement for you AND the Jeep you built (or had built under your direction). But yah, I see what you mean, all the way from Boston. 6,000 miles round trip is quite far to haul or drive the Jeeps. I guess I should feel fortunate that it's 900 miles round trip for me. I towed it once, and drove it topless and doorless another time. Sometimes getting there is part of the adventure.
drive it or ship it out.
It will be worth it for the experience.
Jeepers Jamboree puts on a good guided trip. Jeepers and Jeep Jamboree
$395 a person (based on double occupancy) for a guided 4 day trip.
They provide all your meals, trail spotters, mechanics if you need it.
14 good meals (Sat night is a steak dinner), nightly entertainment, over $63k in give-aways (last year), peace of mind knowing they will get you out after you get onto the Rubicon... IMO - well worth the cost if you divide it out.
I went last year and I am planning on going again this year.
Doing this trail by myself is my only option (which isn't an option) so the Jeepers Jamboree is the best way I've found to do the Rubicon.
4x4abc.com does guided tours with THEIR Jeeps, if you'd rather not deal with the expense/hassle of getting your own Jeeps there.
