Saddleback

Does anyone know of a trail that starts in Corona and you can end up by Cooks Corner? And return a different way?

There is the Main Divide, which is open a very limited time and will put you out on the Ortega Hwy which puts you out of the way quite a bit. But to my understanding there is not a trail that drops you down into Cooks Corner or any trails nearby.

You can come out on Maple Springs Road that dumps you into Silverado. No legal way to wheel with coming out near Cooks Corner....

I usually start the Main Divide fireroad off Ortega Hwy 74 and then come out at Maple Springs which turns into Silverado Canyon further down and that's not to far from Cook's Corner once you jump onto Santiago Cyn Road heading east

The exit to Silverado Canyon works, i have been all threw on the roads by Irvine lake but never from corona.
Well next time someone goes let me know I would like to tag along. Is it mostly fire roads? not that it matters.

Thank You

For the most part it is fire roads and if you take the Santiago Peak trail offshoot you'll get a really nice overlook of the city below & Catalina Island in the distance that's in a clear day of course. It makes a cool spot to have lunch with a view

From the ie there is Bedford rd. and. Indian truck trail. They are the other fire road that connect to the main divide. I've heard there are roads from the Oc side but never could find em.

Like Aftahour said coming from Corona Bedford Dr is the best and almost always open. There is also Indian Truck Trail by Toms Farms. You can also go up through Corona at Skyline Dr. but you will need a key. You can take these to the peak then out through Maple Springs/Silverado Canyon. A nice scenic drive with minimal offshoots.

I have always taken Ortega to Silverado. Haven't explored around any of the off shoots down to Corona or Wildomar OHV. If anyone wants to make a day through Wildomar and trying to find the road to Corona from the Santiago peak, I am in!

I want to try it, doesn't sound like it's to challenging, I use to ride dirt bikes up to the peak from the restaurant on Chapman back in the late 60's and early 70's before development.
I can possibly go Sunday if I get my work done!!!

Sounds like fun since I never been on the off shoot roads and Wildomar OHV in the Jeep except for Main Divide & Santiago Peak

I remember Wildomar being a really small park and when I did go I use to ride an ATV there

Unfortunately I cannot wheel until I put in my new axle with gears and lockers. Went to change my rear diff oil and found 3 big chunks of gear on the drain plug. Should have it done by the end of Feb!!

The wildomar ohv is fun to mess around but it's closed due to high wind fire danger.

Hey guys! I've been on most of these trails. I always check this site before I hit the trail. -http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/cleveland/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5340229
Currently it states Maple Springs road is closed. The site is normally pretty acurate. If you took Bedford road (4S03) or Indian Truck trail (5S01) you could travel south across the main divide and end up at Ortega HWY. I can't go this weekend but would consider it in the future. Of course I am on the Orange county side. I normally take Ortega and go Noth across the divide.

Here's a map a link to the map and link to the forestry service website. If anyone is interested in running from Ortega to Coal Canyon next Saturday we can meet across from the el Cariso Fire Station. As for tomorrow(Sunday) I would have to be on call depending on how tonight rolls.

Did you guys ever get out and check this out?

R8DRIZD, You get your Axle replaced yet? Doesn't sound like a good find, you must wheel pretty hard!

Anyway, I'm new to Jeepin in OC and would like to get out and check out this area this Sat. I would rather go with someone that has experience on these trails. Anyone planning on going out already, or interested this weekend?

I'm surprised they are still closed from the rain last weekend. Must have done some damage. I'm looking at going out from the 74, but both North and South Main Divide are closed and I think that's the main access point. It looks like Wildomar Rd is open. Where is that? Are there any other Trails up there that are open. I see a few off the maps, but aren't listed on the site. Does that mean they are off limits??

I just want to get some dirt in my new tires!

^^^ Trying checking out Gorman OHV, Rowher Flats OHV, & Cleghorn for somewhat local trails.
First 2 OHV parks are okay but Cleghorn can vary from easy to really technical and it's features are all optional offshoots with bypasses available just incase you feel iffy about them

Wildomar road is somewhere off of grand ave in elsinor. I don't know exactly where it is.
If it's not listed then it's off limits

FYI - most of these trails are open now. Jeepin Jesse & I went across the main divide yesterday. From Blue Jay Camp ground off the 74 to Silverado Canyon.

I went to the Wildomar OHV yesterday. No one out except for a blue FJ.

I think most people go up and down Maple Springs to Saddleback or Indian Truck trail. From Blue Jay campground to Indian truck trail we saw minimal traffic. A few motorcycles and maybe a jeep. Between Indian truck trail and maple springs a lot more traffic. Lots of hikers.

I like going up through Bedford canyon. There some little extra credit lines and a fun hill climb. There is also Beeks cabin out there.
