Since the OC Maple Springs gate is currently closed, there are (2) alternatives. Ortega Hwy N. Main Divide or Corona Bedford Canyon Rd. I have shown all going up through Corona unless you would lke to go the Ortega Route. I can update if you like so you know how many people to expect.
We will try to meet at 7:30 and definately head up the trail by 8:00. 15 fwy s. exit at Weirick Rd turn right. Make an immediate left on Knabe Rd. run along the fwy for 1/4 mile and we will be on the right.
Please bring provisions, Water, Snacks, Jackets, Flashlights as it will be at night.
People from the IE will meet off of Weirick Rd @ Bedford Canyon Rd. at 7:30pm. We will then head up to Santiago peak by 8pm.
People from OC can either meet at Corona or Ortega Hwy at 7:30pm and head up to Santiago peak.
We can all meet at the peak then take a run to Beeks Cabin then back to the Main Divide and out to Ortega or out through Corona if all have the time. We will be using Channel 4 for anyone with a CB.
Dude it's cakewalk for any Hemi-powered Jeep on 37's!... time & distance can vary depending on what route we take & where we exit. You can zig zag around the OC mtns for hours
I'll add all of you on the run as soon as the moderator allows me to edit my original post.
Or am I just missing something on how to edit the original post more than once
3 hours to go across the divide to the 74? Only if you don't stop and you haul ass! Allow 4 hours. I wish I could go. I am normally available Friday nights. However, my daughter's talent show starts at 7pm May 2nd. I don't think I have wheeled with any of you. And now your in my backyard.
So bummed.
We will try our best to make it there around 7pm but realistically speaking I would say more like 7:30pm since we have to wait on a few that come out of work at 6pm & also taking traffic in consideration.
No worries. We will all meet at the peak by the cell towers. We can then take a run to Beeks Cabin. There's a hill climb and some little offshoots in that direction.
I am going to have to bail.
My father-in law just let us know he is coming into town Friday. Can't complain since he is here to finalize my sub design- just wish it was a different weekend.
Have fun!
It's all fire roads, nothing crazy at all. The road from the corona side at Indian truck trail off the 15 shouldn't be too far from Ontario probably 30-45 min. As for specific directions one of the guys coming in that way would be better. I've only come out from that way a couple times and not sure on the specific directions
Whats happening at Azusa Canyon? I just was there on Sunday, and there isn't much to do, other then watching people break there toys. I highly suggest staying out of the mud it takes forever to clean it out.
It had to happen. I show interest in a run next thing you know it's locked up. If the gates are open I'm in. My son will be driving so be patient he doesn't have his license yet.
Hopefully they open the Maple Springs trailhead gate for us guys coming from the OC side before friday, if not we will go in like someone else said thru Hwy 74 Main Divide entrance and meet the rest of you at Santiago Peak
I was just out on these trails last Sun. We went in at Ortega N Main Divide. It takes just under 2 hrs to get to the peak if you don't stop. Most of that stretch was graded recently (like less than a week ago) and is pretty easy and smooth. Hopefully we can go in a Maple Springs. There's a few offshoots in that stretch. A stock Jeep would have no problem on these trails. Guy had a Tundra out there! I still aired down and disconnected for smoother ride cause it's pretty rough.
Who's got Aux lights? Might get a little hairy in some spots if you can't see the edge. I'm running stock lights!
I just got off the phone with The trabuco ranger station and they said Maple Springs will most likely be closed until Monday. Total Bummer!! i will check again tomorrow and see.
Who from the OC side that was gonna meet up at Maple is willing to drive up Main Divide?im still deciding if i want to add the extra time, i have work at 7:30 saturday morning.
R8drizd if we come up main divide it takes almost 2 hours to get to the peak instead of the hour from maple springs. If we have takers to come up main divide instead and you guys are willing to wait or maybe meet up somewhere else along the roads we could still make the run.

IMO, It would be easier for the OC people to just hit the Toll road and head up through Corona. By the time you get up through Ortega and start the trail you could be at the Bedford canyon entrance and we could all head up together.
Just my thoughts, I dont mind waiting up at the peak. There is some offshoot along the way that I woulnt mind doing at night.
Let me know what you guys want to do. I have updated the first page.
I'll wait for whoever wants to come up through Bedford. Let me know. We can start later if people want to come through Corona.
