San Diego - Jeep stuck - need tow =(

Yo guys, I went off-roading today on the Anderson Truck Trail in Alpine (eastern san diego) and got my wrangler stuck, mis-judged a bump and bottom'ed out the center so the tires dont have enuf traction to get out. Tried several things so far but to no avail. And called about 20 tow companies in the San Diego area and cannot find any that carry a 4WD vehicle to get on the truck trail and give me a quick tug to get out...

Wondering if anyone does know a tow company that has a 4WD vehicle and would go out to tow me out. Or if there is a member here in SD that wouldn't mind cruising the trail to give me a quick pull out, I'll definitely compensate you for it if so.

Thanks in advance for any info!
Adam

Pics? I am not near san diego or i would be there to help out. Do you have a hi-lift jack? Can you elevate tires and stick something under them to get some clearance under skid?

Don't have a hi-lift jack, unfortunately. Tried elevating the tires a bit using my crappy jack, got a couple rocks underneath one of the tires but the jack that I do have won't work for most... I tried to dig out a bit for a few minutes but it's fairly rocky so that'd take a while but I might need to resort to that, if so I'll bring a pick down with me next time I go.

Didn't snap any pics of it stuck unfortunately, but I'll get pics tomorrow hopefully when I go back.

How far down the trail are you? I might be able to give you a pull, but I don't have a tow strap yet. I get off work at 8am and am going to be pretty exhausted, pm me your contact info and I'll call you when I get up in the afternoon.

This is why I love the off-road community. First post on the forum and already willing to lend a hand. Thank you and welcome.

Seriously! =) Thanks a million.

I actually found a tow truck company finally that claims to have a 4x4 truck able to get to me, I'm just leaving to meet them there now. I'll post back later today whether they were able to get to my jeep or not. If not, I'll pm you. Thanks again!

Sorry I didn't get home til now to post but I did get the Jeep out, thanks for the offers for help! Great community =)

And unfortunately no pics of it stuck, the tow truck was charging based on time taken and my broke ass is on a student budget so I wasn't willing to pay extra to take time and take pics lol

So other than getting stuck, how is that trail? Can a stock TJ handle it? Forgive me for assuming that getting stuck is usually driver error.

Too bad I didn't know about this in time to help. I live in SD county and would have come out to extract you at no charge. That you weren't stuck in deep mud as my last local San Diego area extraction was would have made it a pleasure.

Well, I guess I need to check this section more often... Not only do I have a Jeep and tow strap, but my brother in law is a tow truck driver with a 4wd truck.
Isnt there a rescue registry somewhere? Where we can list our area and contact info for situations like this?

Sorry, I've been in Vegas for the weekend and not watching the forums/email.

Laser: The trail is amazing. Go in from Anderson Road. Make sure you don't go on to any private property though, there's a lot around. There's a few forks on the trail, I took the break off for Anita Way figuring it would go through to Peutz Valley Road and I could exit that way. That's actually not the case, it turns in to a private road and runs on to a lady's house, so make sure you turn around before you hit the water tower if you do go that way. The trail is pretty rugged, the most rugged I've seen in San Diego, and there are points where there are 6foot deep crevices and stuff so you need to be really careful about watching where you go. And watch the larger bumps, that's where I got stuck (romped over a bump and misjudged the height by an inch or two and bottom'ed out the center of the wrangler so the tires didn't have traction, dumb mistake on my part lol). It's a fun trail but not for beginners at all. Oh and take a buddy/2nd car with you hahaha.

Thanks again everyone else for the offers!!

Just got back from Lawrence Welk trail today. If you've done that one, is this one equal or harder? LW trail was actually pretty tough. I had to actually Biatch out on an off camber 4 ft step up. Left front went about 6ft up from the bottom of the tire then nearly flop it on its side getting her out.... GESSSHH..
By the way I'm in SD as well. Close to Qualcomm if you ever need a co-jeep when you go out. Word to the wise: dont venture out alone unless your willing to walk where you have driven, am willing to come back to a stripped jeep, and have a death wish if you hurt yourself.
