Hey... So is there a somewhat map/trail plot of our route?

Curious to see a google earth view to see our adventure... I looked up some of the places. Lava tube, the ghost town, lake bed... What's north of Barstow?

How many of us are there now?

No route to be shared yet…I'll have that in a few weeks. From Barstow we are heading from Soda Dry Lake straight across the Mojave to Avi then a straight shot with some side trips right into Vegas.

There are about 7 to 8 rigs now with out 20 or so folks…some folks will no doubt drop off. My buddy is coming over in the next week or two and we are going to GPS and KMZ file the trip to share it with everyone.

For the pot luck..... I was going to go to Boston Market and buy like 40 corn breads for us. 10 rigs.. 20+/- people thinking. 2 each..... But let me know... Actually, I don't know if they'll sell to me but then, everything is for sale...

Anyway.. Looking forward to it..

Ps.. I decided to go with EZ-Rack for the extra gas racks.. Made by rock-slider engineering.... I was thinking to make them myself but...

Anyone have any feedback on this product?

Unboundmo,
Sorry it took so long to reply, I used this set-up on the Rubicon last summer & it worked fantastic!! JPI mounted a rack on the top to put other things & tie them down but it's an easy place to carry fuel & water with the Rotopax mounted to it. I like it because I can remove the whole thing for driving around town. I have the PS rear bumper with tire carrier & it didn't effect the operation of it at the end of the trip & I had some serious weight on it for the trail. If I can figure how to get a pic on here I'll post it..... Have a great trip!!!

Here you go, I was amazed how this bumper/tire carrier/RSE rack combo worked, and had to take the pic Of John strapping all his camping gear back on after a night camping at Buck Island.

It can get pretty dusty in the middle of the caravan..but if you don't mind the first run with the top off. Easily fixed though if we space out! The weather should be fantastic.

I only have a hard top so got to make decisions when I leave. I would hate to miss being in the open on this trip but not sure if I want to eat that much dirt.

Not sure which jeep you have... But I would go with the hard top. It's going to be a crap load of dirt

Subscribed as I'll be looking to do something similar towards the middle of September.
I need to be in Vegas by Tuesday am 9/9 for a work trade-show (Interbike) looking to leave NC San Diego Friday afternoon.

I'm thinking of taking 4 days in May to travel from Barstow to Vegas in the dirt (Monday - Thursday) then stay the weekend in Vegas. I'll probably meet my wife and some of our friends/coworkers in Vegas Thursday evening. My Brother In-Law will be tagging along too.

Don't have a plan yet...haven't mapped anything out....but plan on making it May 19th - 22nd. If anyone is interested in coming along let me know.

A few folks here can provide character references.

Hi Joe, this sounds like a great trip!! I'm in Brad +1 is there going to be a pre meeting for the trip?

Dude…Tri-Tip….my absolute fav! If you can bring the trailer that would be awesome. We would have a place to keep extra fire wood for the evening campfires. Are you in for sure?
