Mike is really excited about this, the local Cal Fire guys told us all about the area a while back and he's wanted to go there ever since.

Come on down Joe, it will be good to see you again. Don't see much of you since you moved. I will take my little trailer and be there Friday thru Sunday, can't wait!

We are planning on leaving Friday morning, not sure the exact time or how long it takes us to get there. We will head home Monday also, we will be in the motorhome and trailering the TJ. Not sure if my daughter is going yet, if so we will also have the JKUR and towing the little Nomad trailer. She didn't seem to excited about going, her husband did so we will see what happens

We will not have our extra rider either. You have plenty of time to change your mind and leave early! You don't know what you will be missing. Do I need to call Mike's boss.

Oh man, called to the carpet....

Spousal unit and I have discussed Marble Canyon many times. That was just awesome. Timing has been off, just as it is with the event as prior plans are preventing our participation.

Here is a link so you guys can keep track of what is and isn't open:
http://www.nps.gov/deva/loader.cfm?c...&pageid=439529

Luckily the shutdown is over as I read on another site BLM did manage some how to close down a lot of the roads/trails.

That's what I meant I was going to call you(?). We hope it works out. Remember this is the last weekend Mike will still be in his forties! Don't let this be one of those lost opportunities you will regret forever.

I keep reminding him he's going to be, "old" in a few weeks. I better watch it though I'm not far behind him

Nice!....Momma's got the Camper all loaded with food , close and ready to go.
I need to get some new tires put on the trailer tomorrow and I'll be in great shape too.
We should have a good group of people this year ...it'll be another fantastic year I'm sure..

I got all the motorhome stuff done, clean bedding, towels and clothes. After his party tomorrow I'll know what drinks I'll need and make a trip to the grocery. The Jeep is set, we just have to load it up.

We have a portable fire ring/pit thingy, I told Mike I think we should take it??

You can if you want....but there is a lot of fire pits out there and lots of rocks....so if its in the wrong spot you can either move one or build a new one....
Up to you.

Oh okay, I didn't realize it's a camp area. I thought it was just open flat dessert

Well it is but you get the idea, lots of rocks to be made into a fire ring.
