Let me know when you want to head out, and Im sure we can get something set up. Close to where 530ktm will be are the popular Last Chance Canyon and Nightmare Gulch. From those, up through Ridgecrest near Trona (most people have no idea where this is...about 45 minutes east of Ridgecrest) is Panamint Valley which has a ton of wheeling...easy stuff and tough stuff. However, Miller is actually about 120ish miles southwest of Ridgecrest...coming from Redlands itd be about 125 miles North to Ridgecrest or 130 miles Northwest to Miller.

We use channel 22 out there which seems to not have that much traffic. We are staying in Borrego, so if you guys are going to camp at the Blu-In then remember you are at least 20mins from town. The Blu-In no longer sells gas and the only places are Borrego or the AM/PM (Arco) on the S22 & HWY86.

I was just asking about it because I dont know the spots. I could tell it was a bit farther out. I think we are leaning towards Palm Canyon Rv in Borrego.
Dan ot Tamey called them already. I / we should probably start a different thread as this was not a run thread, but it is now!

So what day are you guys planning to wheel?

I'm going to play it by ear for now. Still trying to talk my wife into going and camping 1 night. If not, I may try to make it Saturday for a day trip (assuming something is going on that day). Gas money is killing me though and looks like Octillo is 2.5 hours away. I might try to find something more local.

Too bad there's no way to car pool with 2 Jeeps -- Like tow one with the other to save gas...

I don't know what day we were planning on wheeling because I haven't kept track of who is coming on what day.

[QUOTE=BillG.OTD;2951147]So Thanksgiving is a popular 4 day weekend to get away....where are you going? Family time? Working? or taking off for a few days??

I know that Glamis is a popular destination...So is Johnson Valley...So what r you doing???
I will be doing glamis with my toy hauler and atv. Hopefully my girl will drive my jeep out since I can't put it in the trailer.
Want to make sure the jeep doesn't get jealous of my quad like my girlfriend is with both of them. LOL.
If the jeep makes it out, I will be looking for a Anza or Ocatillo run for the day. Which looks like there may be one after reading previous posts.

Thx Geoff, that is a popular area. There appears to be lots of good spots off the 395 and we are planning on hitting the area in the near future. Panamint Valley looks interesting. I hope you are available to be our trail guide when we do

I am going to book Palm Canyon Resort in Borrego today and I believe Dan is as well. I am going to leave Thursday afternoon (Turkey for breakfast?) and come back Sunday. Hopefully we can do a good long trail run on Friday and another one on Saturday!

I'll be playing in a golf tournament that weekend at Pebble Beach and Spyglass. You all have fun and have a Happy Thanksgiving! Would rather be wheeling but someone has to play Pebble

I can enjoy both those hobbies together, because the way I golf you sometimes need a jeep to find the ball!

Last chance and nightmare...no problem. Not as familiar with PV, but I have access to plenty of people that are...so when the time comes I'm sure I can make arrangements with someone

I got confirmation the jeep is coming.

The Palm Canyon Resort RV park website has mostly photos of motor homes and Jeep Wranglers. PERFECT!

Let me know where on what days and I will try and make one of the 2 days. It would be nice to wheel with you and Dan again, especailly in my neck of the woods/desert for a change.

Geoff, I'll have my recovery gear with me just in case I get into trouble on the 7th hole

It's a great tournament that has been put on by the Southern California Fireman's Association for the last 20 years. Great bunch of guys to spend the weekend with.

Anza Borrego and Ocatillo are in San Diego county. I may live closer to the beach but spend more time in the desert. I guess you could say the beach is in my front yard and the desert is in my back yard. Like most people, I spend more time in the back yard.

How far is that from Ocotillo?

I'm staying at the desert iron woods motel from Saturday to Monday and would like to hook up for a run if you guys make it to OW.
