Its about 20-30mins to Palm Canyon Resort. Not too far. I used to run our trash from the house all the way out to Main Street and it would take a minimum of 40 mins to go there and back.

IN for Octillo- just don't know where we'll stay or if we'll stay. We can day trip it without too much trouble.

Hey Dan, S22 is on the North side of Ocotillo Wells, that is where you will be making a right from the 86 and following it all the way to the Palm Canyon Resort. Highway 78 makes up the Southern border of Ocotillo Wells, that is where the Desert Iron Woods is. 20 minutes from Borrego Springs.

You all are making me jealous. I was just informed today that I get to work on Thanksgiving, then back on Sunday. No long weekend for me. I would love to get some dust under the tires though. Have fun and be safe everyone.

Jeff, those hours suck but at least you will be making the big $ by working on those days.

I work straight commission, so if no work, no pay. Even though I am on standby.

We're hoping the same thing on the lot. The holidays are always slow in the car business.

We will be leaving Borrego Springs by 9:00AM and be somewhere in the park most of the day. Try us on CB 22. We will most likely start out on the Drop Off and the Slot behind the ranger station, work our way up the back side of Blow Sand hill, then off to the training area via Devil's Slide, Shell Reef and The Pumpkin Patch. I think by noon and the time it takes you to set up we may not be able to hook up. We will be heading home early Sunday after a long week so no wheeling for us that day.

That is what I am afraid of. Turkey overload has to go somewhere. I may be overwhelmed.

Grant I will definitely stay tuned to 22, and if we do not hook up this trip there are plenty more good days out in Ocotillo during the next few months.

Have a great time,

Gary

Hey all-
Never been here. Still trying to make this though I thought Ocotillo was a LOT closer than it is. Still working on accomodations that will accomodate my mutt.
Is this crawling or desert running or both? Reason I ask is my front skid is off at the moment and needs to be trimmed to fit with my bumper. Any chance I'll need it? Blow Sand Hill sounds worthy.....hate to take anything slow.

Both, but you can bypass the rocks no problem.

Borrego Springs Resort allows dogs. They are a bit pricey, but it's very nice.

Borrego Springs Motel allows dogs for $10.00. Very clean, Very new and Very small, 8 rooms. No T.V. Bring your Ipad.

Thanks Fred! Will check it out. Was searching "Ocotillo" and coming up with very little.
I wasn't worried about the rocks/crawling. More wondering if there are any higher speed/sand running sections to do. The front skid on my Ranger has never recovered from Pismo...Yet I need to test out my Fox shocks somewhere.

Hey Dan, Dakota and I wheel everyday out there. We don't know where we will go on Wednesday. Call me when you get to Palm Canyon. We will see how much time we have after you get set up and then we can decide where to go.

See you there. It was the Dobie that sealed the deal.
We'll get there sometime Friday and be ready for Saturday AM.
