Yes. Right now just Friday night- talked to Bonnie and she said they have several rooms open Saturday so we'll decide after the run if we want to stay. Not sure if I want to drive for another 2.5 hours after being in the Jeep all day.

We'll wheel with you guys in the AM Saturday if that's ok. We arrive Friday night so I don't have to wander the desert in search of Jeeps on Saturday. I am sure Gary can locate us on the trail- whereas the directionally challenged (moi) might wind up in Mexico. Only ok if its Cabo.
I have Dan and Tamey's # so we'll find 'em at Palm Canyon.
This should be fun- we'll also have a Dakota with us. She'll be on 4 wheel drive too- just lower to the ground and furr-ier.

Very cool, We will be leaving asphalt about one mile West of the Desert Ironwoods so we could actually meet you at the Desert Ironwoods Saturday Morning at 9:00AM. We will be crossing the park to the training area and running 2 other trails West of that. These trails take us back in the direction of Borrego Springs. If you are going to meet up with Rubi you will need to be able to find you way back to Desert Ironwoods on your own. There are many ways to do that so keep it mind.

If you really do get lost that easy we can leave you with a map of the park. The trails have actual road signs at intersections. We are running mostly on trails that are not marked, but we can send you off in the right direction on marked trails.

Got invited to go up to BC109 on Saturday. Could be a fun day but I have to get ready for Last Chance run on the 1st and have an option of working Friday. Still not sure what I want to do. BC109 could be fun with the rains today I am sure it has shifted a bit.

Thanks fred. Just kidding (mostly). We just didn't want to drive for 2+ hours, find you guys, and then wheel. So coming in on Friday. While I hope we meet up with Gary when he gets there- I was just letting him know we were staying at the same spot. Gary- you have my number- so hopefully between CB and my phone we can all get together when you arrive.
Good to know about the road signs though. If we can make it early enough Friday I'd like to do a little pre-running. Having everything marked will make it easier to get around.
Can't wait! Nothing better than NOT being anywhere near civilization on Black Friday weekend.

All of you are making me jealous, so I think I am going to leave extra early and try and meet up. BTW Jenn, I do not have your cell but I'll see you tomorrow at Cleghorn and we can figure things out.

Or you can bring your own.

I made reservations at Borrego Springs Motel today for Friday night so I can join you guys Saturday. Bill, Stan, any camp fire plans Friday night? Mind if an old jeeper joins in if he brings his own chair and beer?

We will be leaving Borrego Springs by 9:00AM and be somewhere in the park most of the day. Try us on CB 22. We will most likely start out on the Drop Off and the Slot behind the ranger station, work our way up the back side of Blow Sand hill, then off to the training area via Devil's Slide, Shell Reef and The Pumpkin Patch. I think by noon and the time it takes you to set up we may not be able to hook up. We will be heading home early Sunday after a long week so no wheeling for us that day.

Grant
Grant, still same plan for Saturday?

Of course you can kick it with us on Friday night... They dont have fire rings at every site, just a common one somehwere in the park. We just picked up a portable unit for such occasions...

Yes you do crack your self up...

Some of the RV parks dont allow fire on the ground or yes the rock ring would certainly work...

So what did you get? One of those big metal kettles with the mesh top? I swear I could not think of what a portable fire ring was. Lol

Yeah pretty much just that...they are pretty common. Its a 29" metal fire bowl that sits about 15" off the ground, but I dont think anyone uses the lid, except maybe when its just hot coals and you are done for the night...You got to have a fire!!!

Our pleasure Bill, I forgot how busy Ocotillo is during the Thanksgiving holiday. That dust was terrible.

Grant, Dakota thanks for lunch and a great run on Saturday. I'm still out here and leaving in the morning, we ran the ridge at Devils Slide along with another trip to Shell Reef and Blow Sand. How was the Traing Grounds what did I miss?

Take care and let's do it again soon.

Tamey and I were really looking forward to this trip. A really busy few weeks put us in a perfect jeeping mood. We have been to Ocotillo Wells numerous time but never to Borrego Springs. Thanks to Grant and Dakota for setting up runs Wed - Sat. Each day way different, scenic, and fun. There is a ton to do and see in that area! Also thanks to Bill, Tracy, Jenn, Adrian, and Gary who are always a pleasure to wheel with. A special thanks to Grant and his wife Diane as they were amazing host for the entire four days. They truly went out of their way hosting some spectacular dinner parties. Riding around in a jeep is fun but nothing compared to spending time with great people. We has the best of both. Happy Thanksgiving!
