So who's wheelin' on Thanksgiving weekend!!

So Thanksgiving is a popular 4 day weekend to get away....where are you going? Family time? Working? or taking off for a few days??

I know that Glamis is a popular destination...So is Johnson Valley...So what r you doing???

I need to check out that area, sounds like a good destination...4 wheels as opposed to 2 on a MC?

Used to spend a lot of time there in my younger days on a MC. It's a great playground for a dirt bike, and good wheeling too.

I took the whole week off -- 17th - 25th. I was hoping to squeeze a wheeling trip in there somewhere.

That still leaves a few days....unless that's needed to recover from the run!

I understand that, I drive my jeep atleast 10x more than my bike. I've thought about selling it but I know I would kick myself like crazy if I did.

Too funny. I sold my Harley to fund my lift and such. Lol.

I pretty much did the same thing -- I had a large casino chip collection. Liquidated most of it for Jeep stuff.

Well I've been riding streetbikes since I was 13 and my bike is the only other vehicle I would drive if my Jeep needs repairs that I didn't have time to finish the night before.

It's not a matter of if, just where. Taking the MH and Jeep somewhere. Lots of action at JV, but it might be too busy...

I also sold my Vrod, not just for Jeep Parts, but to pay off another car so that we could buy a Jeep. Now I am trying to figure out how to come up with enough funds to do everything that I want to do to the Jeep. Probably need about $7,500-$10,000 to do everything that I want to do. 4 Wheeling is not a cheap hobby, but I really enjoy being able to get out with wife and kids on the back roads seeing areas that I could never get close to with the Motor Cycle. Although, I miss the MC just a little, the benefits of the Jeep outweigh the downers by a long shot.

Hey Bill, here are some options I'm up for:
1. Death Valley
2. Ocotillo Wells
3. Borrego Springs
4. Glamis North Campground (not in glamis)

I have lots of family here. Thanksgiving is always family gathering time for me, except for two years ago when I decided to change things up and run Mojave Road over the long weekend. I was frowned upon by my family for leaving them, and I felt bad. But I did get a buffet dinner with turkey and all the trimmings for $6 at the Avi Resort & Casino in Laughlin late Thanksgiving night.

Every year I go with a bunch of fellow dirt bike riders and families. We always go up around Randsburg and Spangler Hills which is south of Ridgecrest. Most of the group takes the whole week and I myself will be going up Tuesday and coming home Friday or Saturday morning to avoid the traffic mess on the return trip. It is a fun time with a bunch of RV's, people and a Thanksgiving dinner out in the beautiful desert.
