I'll volunteer for whatever I can do to help on the Calico trails but if that Saturday side-trip out to Achy Breaky and Pumpkin Eater pans out, I'll be there.

I thought you're leading the gatekeeper run.

So what is the qualifications for the advanced group. Dave and I both have lifted Rubis on 35's with full armor. Our skill level's not so much but we're willing to try most anything.

Your rig qualifies without a problem. With the group you are set in, you should have no problems. There are some great people and will be sure to spot ya through anything that may be a bit tough. Besides, weren't you talking about trying the Gate Keeper??? You are ready for the difficult trails, my friend.

Mo, See Page 14, post 396 for a site plan. It shows where most of us will be camping or be in the cabins. Your space is in the RV area where there are full hookups. Dan, Bill and Dave are in the same area (Living large). You aren't far away from the mayhem. Easily within stumbling distance. Dakota is working on the new updated site plan. It doesn't show the area for RV full hookups. You will see (in black) your name and the others who are near to you. There are RV spaces closer but they are water and I believe electricity only.

Ok guys...I got a chance yesterday to run over to Stoddard Wells and put together a wickedly sweet A$$ run for the M&G....!

I know most of u guys have never been wheelin in this area (except Jerry ) so if ur up for something completely new and extremely challenging this is for U!...there's a reason why Cal4wheel held the "Hi Desert Roundup" in this area for 39 years!
This run will require no less then 33inch tires preferably 35s and one locker and 2 r highly recommended but there r bypasses for those faint of hart (and there will be)...Lots of rocks! Lots of rocky hill climbs and O did I mention lots of ROCKS!

The run is only a few minutes drive from the Calico campground ..
so post up if ur interested ...so we can start the list..

What would you compare this run to difficulty wise? For example, the most difficult stuff I've done is John Bull, Bullfrog, and the Calico runs. Would you say this is more difficult than those?

Well ..its definitely on par with the hardest parts of all those trails..but depending on how the rigs r u equipped I can definitely make that alot harder!
I took some of the best stuff from Achy Breaky & Pumpkin Eater and I combined them for this run...we'll go up 5 LONG canyons of nothing but rocks. climb big loose rock and dirt hills out of and back down into each rock canyon ...one of the rock canyons is we'll take it all the way to the top of a huge mountain were we'll stop for lunch.....u'll be able to see a beautiful 365 degrees view of the complete desert...even Mtn Whitney!

This sounds awesome! This is on my short list of trails to run..I have to get all these desert runs in before summer. We are trying to decide on a run for presidents weekend and could tie this into some parts of JV.

The Superstition area sounds like fun also...except for the carnage photos I saw

What Bill? You don't want to do a run that might damage Bill's Jeep?

Okay...I was waiting for that...payback from my earlier post I assume? I had to think you either missed it (not likely) or just waiting for the right opportunity....

What photos, where?

I did Wishbone & 2-3 of the other 4+ rated rock crawling trails & we did have one gentleman in a nearly new Xterra that insisted on joining us after he received a few polite warnings about possible breakage. He end up having to be dragged out backwards & nearly sideways at one point no more than a few minutes into the run. He had f/r lockers but he started breaking pretty quick. The first thing to break took his front IFS axle out of commission, probably a busted pinion shaft or R&P gear since his front driveshaft was still turning. Then his front coil-over shock strut snapped which took out the suspension for his driver's side front axle. The coil spring fell out entirely. It took a recovery team to get him out of the canyon & back to camp.

I stopped by his camp later when he & some helpers were trying to figure out how to fix the coil-over so he could drive home. It didn't look like an easy repair & no one was having any fun in that campsite at the time.

I saw these I wouldn't even get close to those trails they did. I would happily go as passenger and give encouragement and film. I'll drag skid plates along rocks all day long, but when it comes to sheet metal, i'm out.

I agree 100%. I'll wait until I either win the lottery or some rich stranger leaves me a huge inheritance. Then find a Jeep to build and take all those crazy places. Until then, my pumpkin is sticking to the milder trails

Stoddard Walls is a huge area to play in and really calls for a few days to see most of it...this run I put together yesterday only consists of a some portion of one small mtn out here...
Superstition is a great place also...don't get to rapped up in those carnage photos ...there is lots of easier stuff to wheel out there..
