Barring anything else happening, the Jeep is now ready for Calico. The t-case is finally back together & everything seems fine again. Phew, I can't wait... I was worried for the last 3-4 nights whether I'd get it fixed in time.

I'd like to attend this event. Def interested in ride #4. Most likely won't be camping since I live right up the road at Fort Irwin.

First look at the weather: Ten day forecast shows sunny, low to mid 70s, for the M&G weekend! It's nice up here in the desert right now, the top even came off today!

I took out my windows about two weeks ago. Got a few sprinkles and a chilly morning or two. But it's actually been really nice.

Wish I could leave my top off. Never know where work is going to send me though. One more reason I need to get a soft top eventually. The hard top is such a pain to remove.

I love my soft top and refused to buy one with a hard top. I wanted to bear to take it off or what not by my self. Didn't want to build anything or rely on anyone to help. The windows come out in about March and go back in about the beginning of November. If I don't want the top I can just lay it down. Easy peasy lemon squeazy! 2-5 minutes and its done.

I had the dual top option for a while ... actually sold my soft top lol ... I just prefer a hard top *shrugs* ... it barely ever rains here so I probably won't put the top back on for months ... and if it did rain a lot (like when I lived in New York) the soft top sucks in the rain anyways ... so I would leave my hardtop on

I never go very far in my JK and it's too easy to take off (now that I fought with it enough to learn to open the back window and keep the tail gate shut) ... it's literally six bolts holding it down ... I spent more time today putting my spiderweb shade on than taking my hard top off

the only thing that is annoying about the hard top to me is where to put it lol ... takes up half my garage!

Yup Saturday for the main stuff ... and I think there were some runs on friday also if you were able to make it out!

Speaking of ... any takers on the Inscription Canyon trip for Friday? It's most likely going to be a half day at work for me so I can probably get down there around 1.

This time next week I will be stressing about having everything ready for Friday night when I get off work so I can head out there. Only about 30 minutes or so out so it's not that bad. Tomorrow I will be doing a trial run on that new tent. Oops no that's Saturday tomorrow I will be fixing the thermostat that I took apart and didn't get back together correctly.

We're up for whatever. We should get there pretty early and will just be listening for anything that sounds good. If we leave for some other run earlier.....well, we will be gone and will miss out. Lol, basically we're just going with the flow

I'm a list freak, the OCD kicks in and I plan and start preparing way sooner than needed for trips. I've already got my menu planned for our May 18th lake trip, lol.

It still comes down to the last minute with me stressing about stuff. Usually due to the fact my husband is a big procrastinator and causes my stress

Good luck with that tent, I don't envy you as many good fights have been overheard in campgrounds due to tent set up

Lol it will just be me and my boy setting up so we don't fight over those kinda things. We actually work well together. That is why is m waiting for Saturday to set up when he is home and not at his dad. In addition to the fact I didn't wanna do anything after work tonight. And I have the general menus planned good dinner Saturday night fast food Friday night. Breakfast and lunch on Saturday and so syncing super easy like pop tarts and coffee Sunday. He is a teen and fairly easy to please. Gonna grab some of our favorite dune snacks and we will be on the road

The 241's heavy steel speedo tone wheel unknowingly slid back & rotated when I changed output shaft flanges when I was changing the rear driveshaft from one with 1350 to another with 1330 u-joints. Then when I reinstalled the new flange & hammered the output shaft nut down with the impact wrench, I didn't realize the tone wheel had shifted out of position over a steel locating pin & the tone wheel cocked, breaking the pin & jamming itself on the output shaft causing major vibrations.

That's the tone wheel in the first pic. In the second photo, that second smaller notch on the backside of the tone wheel isn't supposed to be there. The pin that broke was supposed to fit into the larger notch made its own instead when it rotated out of position and was pressed against the pin with the impact wrench. That second notch created a big deformation inside the shaft opening which made the tone wheel so tight I had to use a slide-hammer bearing puller to remove it. This wouldn't have happened with a standard 231 t-case.

Alright everyone, I believe I have the info updated in the first post for those attending and what trails they chose. The only change in trail leaders is that Kaisertod (Scott) has been kind enough to step up and fill in for Armand as leader of Trail # 3, and brings trails # 1 and # 3 to capacity and are now capped for any more attendees. If you feel strongly about being on a trail that is capped, please PM me or the trail leader and we will see if an exception can be made, but we are trying to keep the group sizes managable for time and fun.

The current count I have is 63 members that have posted up recently stating that they are attending the event and have chosen a trail. This is a massive amount and I want to thank everyone for the interest in making this event all it can be. Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone in Calico.

Jeff
