Well if you're REALLY going to attempt it, I'd say wait until Saturday night instead of Friday. That way you can run Friday and Saturday before breaking yourself on the Gatekeeper.

Ya think we will have enough light left to try it on saturday? I really do want to do this. Win or lose I get to try. And either way it will make such a great story at the campfire.

I'd also say not to try it unless you're towing it on a trailer (not even flat tow). If you need to drive it home, don't do it.

I've got auto club and Stan will be there. Worse case is I ship it to stans and he fixes it. I can ride home with Dusty Dave. I'm gonna walk it first though and see if I think it's even possible. If not I won't even try. No use in just beating a dead horse if it is beyond what the jeep can do. I will listen to those who have more experience. But if there is a chance I wanna try it.

Hey Gunner,
You should run with us Friday. We are going to an obstacle on Duran that is much easier than the gate keeper, but still not easy. We are meeting in the main Calico parking lot at 12:30, leaving at 1. The route will be up Duran and down Odessa. Last time I tried it (only locked in the rear) I needed a strap to get thru. I may try again after OTD makes it thru

BTW, I went by the campsites Sunday on the way home from Havasu. The restrooms are not in the middle, but in/around camp sites 100-105 or so.....Maybe they will have them moved by Friday, but there was a lot of construction in that area....

I might have posted this info here before but... Gerald Lee broke his EXTREMELY well built trailered buggy the last three times he attempted the gatekeeper. Gerald is the same guy who won this year's and last year's Everyman Challenge at King of the Hammers with John Currie. And I haven't seen any videos that show people making it up the gatekeeper in its current condition. I have made it up the gatekeeper a half dozen times but that was several years ago before it got like it is. Just sayin'...

P.S. I see no mention of lockers in your Profile. Don't even consider it if you don't have a good pair of f/r lockers... no LSDs.

Thanks, I was looking down in the drivetrain area of his Profile where no mention of lockers was made, I never noticed the Rubicon notation at the top. At least he has f/r lockers.

I do have lockers. I want to try it but I will walk it friday when I get there and see if discretion overcomes my desire to conquer the gatekeeper. I am really listening to everyone and don't want to do something stupid. If it is not doable then I just will not try it.

No offense, but going off your profile with 33s, a limited slip in the rear, and an open front...you dont have a chance

You may think otherwise when you walk up to it and those boulders are higher than your waist I am all for a challenge (I have taken an open/open rig a lot of places), but gatekeeper is definitely no joke.

Just about any video on youtube of the gatekeeper, I would bet every rig is on at LEAST 35s, locked front and rear, and most likely struggling all the way through. Half the videos somebody is flopping, winching, or breaking.

Anyone else in a cabin- don't forget i am more than willing to take one off your hands. Tent camping just isn't as fun as it was in my 30s.

Hehe I was hoping you'd notice my sarcasm. I have no intentins of attempting the gatekeeer. I'm sitting in math class for another 3 hours and I'm bored out of my mind. My phone kept buzzing sbout you guys talking about the gatekeeper so I had to throw myself In!

Indeed I did! First time at last chance, and had no side armor in case I slipped so I whimped out.

Edit; plus I didn't have my mind set on it LOL
