Aw.....just funnin ya Geoff! But in all honesty that water fall is like a really bad breakup ....hard to get over...ha ha!....u need 2 lockers and wheelbase otherwise its a no go...
yah I had a great time....man it was a long day....I loved the 1st trail we did....I had 2 more of those that I really wished we would've done. We should've ran those and all three canyons of Pumpkin Eater and called it a day....would've been Nothin but brutal stuff though.

Hey does anyone have a map/photo of the entrance to the bypass around the gatekeeper? The gatekeeper is easy enough to find, I am just not 100% of its bypass entrance location. I know it's well before the gatekeeper, right after you get into the canyon area.

A little help please? I am leading a small group through Doran/Odessa this coming weekend & nobody is out of their mind enough to want to do the gatekeepr.

If memory serves me correctly if you're driving away from gatekeeper just hug the right and there should be a trail with some fairly large boulders "blocking" it that should bring you up to the ridge. I think they closed it off at one point, but opened it back up making it more difficult. Don't quote me on this though.

You make Pumpkin Eater out to be a lot harder than I remember it from the Hi-Desert Roundup days when I did it 3-4 years in a row. Did they do an easier version of Pumpkin Eater at HDR?

How are your spring shackles Steve? Did you weld 'em back together or replace them?

When I got home that night I fixed the ol boy right up....I had some brand new M.O.R.E 3/8s shackles and a new set of springs in the shop waiting to be installed ...

U know how to get ahold of me if u ever wanna give the complete Pumpkin Eater a go!

This. As you come out of Doran- there is only one bypass. It goes to the right. In front there are some largish boulders. Easy to spot.

Yes, all of that much I remember... I took the bypass the on our previous run through Calico. I am just trying to remember where the actual entrance is. No one has a photo or it marked on a GPS trail or route? I drove up the road last Saturday evening to the gatekeeper & was looking for the bypass on the way but didn't spot it.

As you leave gatekeeper the by pass is on the right, and is a cool winding steep road that takes you to the top. As you get to the top, you'll see calico campgrounds off to the left, and the by pass road continues off to the right. Continue on the road and you'll be looking down to the right at a Birdseye of gate keeper, then it reconnects with Doran after that.

Thanks Stan, that much I know. I just don't recall how far from the gatekeeper the bypass is... I was looking for it going to & coming back from the gatekeeper but didn't see it... I'm thinking it's what, a quarter-mile to half-mile away from the gatekeeper?

Can anyone tell me who the person is that has a golf cart for sale? Mike said someone mentioned having one in Havasu and wanting to sell it. He has a friend very interested in buying one and I was hoping to get the details on it.

He heard them mention is Saturday evening and just can't remember who it was.

Thank you!

Thanks Stan. Our friends just moved to Avila and they want one to cruise around from their place to the golf course and town. They have cart paths that go all over and Chuck is dying to find a nice one. They aren't found much around here.

Also check Gunner first video of run #3 that shows the entrance to the bypass.

Here is a copy of Gunner post around page 131 on this thread

I miss my old EZ-Go battery-powered golf cart, it was fun driving that thing around the neighborhood & to/from the golf course. I about crapped at what it cost me when I had to replace all of its 6 volt batteries though.

Perfect Joe, that is what I needed. I think I remember that spot, glad to see it is the entrance to the bypass. Thank you!

Edit: Oh wait, I finally got through the entire video but didn't see the spot where the gatekeeper is off to the right side. You sure that is the gatekeeper's bypass? Or did they turn off/cut the video off before the point where you can see the gatekeeper down below and to the right?

Figured it out, the bypass is .3 miles after turning off the paved road. That's close enough. Sorry to have taken up so much space on locating it but I'll have 12-14 Jeeps behind me next weekend & that's the turnoff I was worried about finding.

Edit: I was just looking at my GPS & just discovered I had the bypass turnoff and that part of the trail well marked as a trail on my GPS. I forgot I had done that years ago.

So run #2 looked pretty good from the pics and video I have seen....even Dave approves

It would have been cool for any of the runs to add in the mud hills...they would be fun with 15 or more jeeps

So Mike had a lot of fun last weekend meeting everyone and on both runs. He hasn't really talked much about it and has been a little on the quiet side.

I found out last night that he sold one of his dirt bikes on Monday and may have a buyer for the other this week. I then caught him looking for old Jeeps on Craigslist and went to look at one on Friday.

I do believe he's up to something.................something Jeep related that could prove to be interesting I'm thinking you all may have brought him over to the dark side

Boy I sure wish I could have had a bit more time meeting you guys. Mike seems like a guy I could like pretty quickly. Your OK.
Didn't you say your dad is looking to sell the CJ? Maybe a keep it in the family thing. Then long travel suspension and all the trimmings.

I get that a lot, I'm pretty sure my family all likes him best too

Dad's on the fence with the CJ, he had someone look at it and I think it sunk in that it could be gone. He originally was going to sell t for financial purposes and that seems better now. My mom played with a couple of her stocks and did very well a couple weeks ago.

I think if someone came along that appreciated the Jeep for what it is and the work put into it, he would sell it. I could never own it, I would be afraid to scratch it and have him mad at me. Lol

Fyi: those on Trail #1.
I do have a ton of video. I finally learned how to operate my Go Pro- now I have to learn how to edit the freakishly huge video files. Plus we mounted it on the inside of my Jeep- so a lot of the video is of my hood. Not exactly fun for others to watch. I do have video of almost everyone coming down one of the obstacles. But its almost 20 minutes long so I can't figure out how best to post it. Crashing my PC....stay tuned.
