Ok ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; it is that time again to start planning a new Semi Annual Meet and Greet!!! The last one in Big Bear was a blast and the need to get the tires dirty again is strong.

The dates of mid to late March have worked well so far for most members. So, with that said, lets have some suggestions of location. Calico is great for the hard core guys and fun for beginners/or stock rigs to explore the more mild terrain. Anza Borrego is doable for stockers with a tug or two and challenging for built rigs depending on the line chosen. I am open to other suggestions also. For potential locations, lets keep in mind that our group tends to be a bit large and rather noisy...:whistling:. For the time of year I am planning, a desert area will probably be more weather friendly than a mountain area, but I ain't skeered of a little snow if everyone else is up for it.

Well, lets have that input and get this event started.

It there are no objections, the event will be held the weekend of Friday, March 22 through Sunday March 24.
The rules for this event are as follows.

1) NO DRINKING ON THE TRAILS. This includes passengers as it is just too easy for someone to hand a drink over to the driver
2) First Aid kit on the rig within reach of the driver and others. In case of an emergency, we want to be able to help you.
3) Recovery points front and rear.
4) Fire extinguisher on the Jeep, again within reach of driver and others.
5) A spare tire within 2" of the size of tire on your rig.
6) A minumum of an A/T tire. Street tires stand a higher rate of failure on the trails.

OK, enough of the serious stuff. Here is a list of going. If I have missed you, let me know and I will correct it.

He will be willing to lead an advanced group. The route will be up Odessa to Wall Street and return down Duran. But that will not be all, as we will go thru the mud hills and do Phillips loop and return back thru the mud hills. He was hoping to open this run to jeeps with 33" tires and one locker. Also would like to keep the group to 15 jeeps to allow sufficient time.

Trail # 2, Intermediate Group, led by Jeff (Turdhurdler) Mule Canyon to Phillips Loop, then to Kramers Arch. From there to the small rock garden section going north. Drive to Bismark Mine, possible lunch if that time, then to the Stone Cabin and to Wall Street bypass. If time and interest permits, we can then go to Top of the World for a easy cool down run.

For members coming on this run, please bring a flash light and a lunch for the trail. There are a couple of spots on the trail with mines that go back a hundred feet or so and a blast to walk into and check out.

Well Johnson Valley has many options. Cougar Buttes with Cake Walk and Bull Frog. Means Dry Lake with all the Hammer stuff and just across the highway is Rattlesnake canyon, Mottino Wash and a little further up to Tip Top Mountain and Pontiac Sluice. All a short ride from each other. Nothing like the Dez for alot of room.

I'd like to do Johnson Valley if we can find enough trail leaders to lead a few separate runs out there on different trails of varying difficulty levels. Because I don't think everyone will want to do Bullfrog. I believe it's primitive camping out there in Cougar Buttes though.

Calico's a good option to do again.

And there's also a big primitive camping area in Goler Heights, from where we can run Last Chance Canyon/Schmidt Tunnel/Goler Gulch.

Well as long as its within a few hours drive of San Diego and a stock YJ is able to go along, count me in. Given this isnt until March, I may be able to fit some mods in before then, but no guarantees.
I would love to come along (my first off road adventure), but if you dont think I could keep up I will understand.

Anza for me. The Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari is March 2-4. That wouldn't be the best weekend for the meet and greet. Very busy!!!
