There used to be a place in Johanasberg called The Silver Dollar Saloon. We were going thru on our Harley's and decided to have a cold one. One customer in there and a bartender wearing clothes that would fit a 12 year old, and she was hangin out everywhere!

I'm guessing she was not the type of girl that you wanted to see 'hanging out' either. That's usually the way it goes.

My grandpa could tell you 'exactly' why (I cant remember)...hes worked there for like 20 years, but I think it has to do with the sulfur (from the lake bed, I believe).

Trona mines for Pot Ash...it is one of those components that it used for the "makeup" found in many of your everyday items.... form soups to clothing to plastics....
There used to be a Borax mining operation on the south end of the lake bed but no longer in use.

If any of you would like to learn more about Trona and have an awesome time....every Columbus day weekend there is an event called the Trona dig.....Google it... its a lot of fun for the family...

Looks good Mark, glad your posting along the way! Did you find a group to hit the Rubicon with?

I see that instead of spare Jeep parts you just brought bikes to Ride out of the trail if you break...

Sheesh. We're going to need a banquet hall for the potluck. And some cots. And maybe a treadmill.

I will be lucky if I can lead myself back to my trailer after a visit to Yomondo's world-famous Libation Station.
