I dont know how many of you are aware, but the 'twins' and I...along with a few other friends are building a rig to race in the everyman challenge at king of the hammers. We just got an order of shirts in that we are selling...anything that hasnt sold I will being bringing along to big bear. The funds raised will be going towards our car. If you are interested in reserving one now let me know and we can arrange paypal and I will make sure you get it at BB. Shirts are $20 and S-XL are still available but are limited.

Hey Cons good luck with that. I'd buy a shirt but you are out of my size. As far as the Everyman Challenge. I think they named it wrong, should be Every Wealthy Industry Leader Challenge. IMO.

No worries. Hopefully shirts are popular enough that we will be putting a second order in!

Agreed though, but that is what we are hoping to change with this team. We hope to show that is possible for true everyday guys to compete successfully in this sport.

For anyone interested, you can check us out here:

Like I said GOOD LUCK. I have NOTHING against past winners. I have met some of them and they are super cool guys. I even run some of their products. But from my point of view they have way more resources than most folks. And when it comes to racing, quite often the biggest wallet wins.

Agreed. I think finishing alone will be a Win in our books

There are plenty of low-budget rigs in the EMC class at KOH, not all are high-dollar rigs. I ran one of the KOH checkpoints last year & was asked to wait while freezing in shorts & tshirt until nearly 10pm for the last EMC truck to finally made it through my check point so he wouldn't DNF. My check point was the last one before the finish line. His truck (an old Toyota P/U truck as I recall) was definitely low budget, but he made it to the finish line. It barely held together & it was obviously built in his garage with scrounged parts... a true everyman's race vehicle.

Whoops that was the 2012 KOH I was talking about when mentioning that low-budget EMC truck that came through my check point so late... and he wasn't the only low budget EMC racer I saw that day.

Here's a cool post by Cody Addington who is the driver of the low budget rig I mentioned above who made it through my Friday night main event checkpoint just after 10pm. That he made it to the main KOH event via qualifying by the LCQ race after doing the EMC earlier that week shows what you can do on your own.

My #4680 Toyota Pickup KOH Experience - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum.

So that just goes to show that you don't need big sponsors & big $$$ to compete in the EMC and even the main event at King of the Hammers.

So if Cody can do it like he did, so can Geoff!

Compete Jerry. That is what I am talking about. IMO he nor any of the other truly low budget Everyman built rigs are in a position to realistically COMPETE in the EMC. Sure they can ENTER and some can finish and I know all of them are going to have a great time and they should all be proud of their accomplishments. But they really don't have much chance at a podium unless the high dollar entries mess up or have a ton of bad luck.

And the winner probably had more $$$ tied up in their axles than his entire rig. PROPS to him for getting in there and he is the guy I would cheer for but that class just does not appear to be a level field to me.

Getting super excited for this trip. The Big Bear trip that is. Cons good luck on the race. It's all about having a good time and enjoying what you do.
Both times I did John Bull I needed winched the guys that were behind us each time waiting on our groups were were slightly impatient with their built jeeps and a bit perturbed a few if us had no lockers. Pretty much told us we shouldn't be there. Oh well! I still got thru and I had a great time. That's what life is about. I hope you have a great time doing what you enjoying doing!!!

Time is getting closer to out camp out and great food wheeling and amazing people!! Whootwhoot!!

Thanks! Hopefully by Turd's next shin-dig in March, we will be wheeling the race rig along side the rest of you guys

Trust me, I know all about the no lockers thing. I have wheeled with groups of people on harder trails that many would say 'require' two lockers. There is some sort of gratification when you actually conquer the obstacles unlocked that these guys are doing locked...even more so when they find out you arent locked. Learning to wheel the hard stuff without lockers, makes you a hell of a lot better driver than jumping in head first with lockers IMO. I just recently got a front locker, and its amazing what it has helped me do after learning to do stuff without one.

I never thought when I started out my adventures this year that I would do what I have! There has been some scary stuff IMO lol. But I live it and have met some of the most amazing people ever! Love my jeep family. Maybe one of these days I may get lockers but ya know I am not in a hurry. At least one person on the trail has a winch. I can always take a tug. No biggie! As long as I am having fun and enjoying my life.

Actually going to look at a cheap non running Cherokee later so I don't have to share the drivers seat with my boy. Lol I think it may be a good starter for him

Geoff I'll take one, not sure if I need an L or XL Do they run big or small? I have one L that fits me like an oversize tent, and another L that is so tight it looks like it was painted on. For tshirt sizing purposes only, I'm an extremely svelte guy at 5-11 & 193 lbs, probably about an A cup.

I have the same problem. If I order a L, should've gotten an XL. XL should've gotten a L...
