So we are getting closer to M&G time... I thought I would give an update to those on trail 3, Dishpan and Holcomb Creek.
I wanted to share this map with you to make sure that you know there is a bit of a Hwy drive involved before we get to the trail. We will be basically doing a big loop.
If you are camping at Hanna Flats, we will exit out of Hanna Flats (4 mile dirt Rd) to Hwy 18 and travel down to Hook Creek Rd and enter onto 3n34 about 2 miles below the Deep Creek bridge. The trail gets fun very soon after you cross the water.
After we finish Dishpan, we will be in very close proximity to start Holcomb Creek (3n93). We will be running HC the opposite way as we normally do (rock garden first) After completing HC we will be just a few miles from Hanna Flats. The drive down to the trail head on 18 will be about 45 minutes so we may adjust our start time so as not to meet group 2 in mid trail
If you are not camping in BB, it would be best to meet at the trailhead or at Deep Creek....I would be glad to give you directions...Since I never get lost
The hardest part of Dishpan is the Waterfall area (ask me how I know) because soon after the steep climb you are in a very off camber situation. Dan and I were there at Forest fest and it has only worsened since we last saw it... In fact a Jeep almost flopped in the few minutes we were there. There are 2 other ways around that obstacle so no worries, I may go up this Saturday and check out our best route....Looking forward to a great time!!!
What is this Astro Van box you speak of?? please share...
Its the same as the dodge box and is a direct swap but has a lower gear in it and revers geared...the pigment arm mounts backwards... gets the arm out of the way of the axle when seeing huge articulation ... great for some stretch
Where is everyone that is doing Trail # 1 meeting at?
I think I recall a 8:30 meeting time (or sooner), I just want to make sure I get to the correct location early!
Wow, just realized that I have not posted up a meet time and place... Sorry about that gang. I would like to have everyone ready to roll out by 9:30 and meeting at the Hanna Flats campground upper parking area. This gives campers a chance to have their coffee and breakfast. Even if you are not camping, the campground hosts will allow us to park for a short period there as long as we leave a wide enough path for others to come in or out. The trailhead is only a few miles from the campground, so we can air down there also. If you don't wish to airdown there, we will more than likely also stop at the trail head staging area and you can air down there also. Also, I will state that we will be on CB Channel 24 from the campsite and throught the trails.
Also, for Trail 1; please be sure to pack a lunch and bring plenty of water or other beverage for the day. Gets dusty and dry out there. If there are any questions or concearns, feel free to post up or PM me and I will be happy to answer any issues. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am getting very excited to get into the mountains and cooler air. Going to be another great event.
That sounds good, it has been hot here in Escondido. But for me, I'm more looking forward to the time off & being out wheeling with friends. I've been doing two months of very stressful job interviews & finally got a really good offer I just accepted. My current micro-managed job is just the pits so I can't wait to give them notice. I may even take that Friday off & get there by noon or so to start the party a little early!
