Kota, best of luck with college. Will post pics when we can to tease you :-)

Re Jerry's comment on the beer can(s) - I see his point but have to agree that the absoluteness (Political Correctness) of not allowing the cans is a bit far. We want to have fun while presenting a positive image indeed, but there is more to it than a can, i.e. just because there is a can on the outside fender doesn't mean the driver or passenger(s) have been drinking on the trail....JMHO

On a serious note here guys, I noticed something different this run in the group doing Dishpan Springs & Holcomb Creek run...

1-2 people had magnetic holders on their Jeeps that were holding beer cans on their front fenders. That is not the image we want to be portraying on the trail people. While the drivers of those Jeeps may not have actually been drinking beer on the trail, it certainly made it look like beer was being consumed while driving offroad & it did not do the image of offroaders any good.

I strongly suggest such displays of what appeared to be beer cans on fenders while driving in the forum M&G grunds stop. It gave the wrong image of us that day, gives the wrong image of offroading in general, & does not go along with our M&G policy of no drinking on the trail... which should include not even giving the image that you're drinking, even when you're not.

I meant to say something that day to the driver but did not, I should have.
Jerry I see your point and well taken. In my opinion, I thought it was a pretty funny addition to his jeep. Are we not allowed to wear a hat or shirt with corona or tequila on it? I don't believe that the cans portrayed anything else but a sense of humor in this already politically correct world. One persons individuality does not portray all.

Of course there isn't any problem problem whatsoever wearing a tshirt with a beer advertised on it.

But with all the attacks on offroading on all fronts, we need to be extra careful to not give the anti-offroaders any more ammo to go after us with. A photo caught by one of them of a Jeep in the middle of a trail with a can of beer sitting prominently on the fender would be more ammo for them, I have been in enough public pro/anti-offroad meetings where that type of photo would be prominently displayed. They would love to be able to use & display photos of Jeeps with beers sitting on them to promote us as beer-guzzling rednecks whether or not we were actually drinking beer on the trail. Heck I assumed the owner of the Jeep was drinking beer & asked to make sure he wasn't.

Drinking it or not, it just does no good for our image or our cause. Call me a prude if you want but I'm actively involved in helping to keep the anti-offroaders from taking any more trails away from us and I see the tactics they use... and not many of them could be considered fair.

So it's not a matter of being politically correct, it's about not giving the anti-offroaders even more ammo to use against us.

We don't need a beer can on our fenders to look cool, right? In my personal opinion, it simply gives the wrong image of responsible offroading.

What's the difference between the beer can and a hula bobble doll on the dash?

They are all going to offend someone somewhere.

I'm gonna put a six pack of cans on my jeep (I don't drink beer). I'm gonna supplement it with some magnetic solo cups. I think I will even run some Washington redskin decals
On my doors.

While I'm at it I will practice carting out more than I brought in. Trail sponsorship. And tread lightly.

Can't keep everyone happy these days so do what's right and let the rest figure it out. Seriously.

This has been the ultimate offender thread and maybe it should get removed lol well lets be the off roadin beer drinking gun owning Americans that we are! And we all come back and drink like mad men at the camp site with our kids around playing with other kids! There's even a Tennessee Honey Whiskey Bar every year. The only thing closing the trails are the LEFT PARTY off roaders who won't defend our roads, rights, and freedom! Let's all man up a bit guys and quit getting offended about every little thing. Some of the girls I saw at the run were more fun and bad ass than a few of the guys worrying about every little thing. No this isn't a stab at Jerry he has all the right to say his peace. But let's just be a democracy and take a vote, I personally am fine with no drinking on the trail, not because it's illegal but because some people can't handle their alcohol lol. I vote to wear and represent what you want on your jeep because a jeep stands for FREEDOM! Sorry guys I don't beat around the bush as you may know. I come from a Harley Davidson motorcycle club and I'm used to being who you are. A FREE AMERICAN

You know guys I'm signing off for a good while. I got on here to learn and meet new friends not be told what to do and how to do it. I'm not here to offend people but I'm not gonna sit back and not have my opinions on matters. I hope to see you all out on the trails where we can leave the BS computer stuff at home and Wheel our jeeps. If you see SlowThrills on the forum it's cause I'm looking to go wheeling not typing. I've gotten along with you all on the trails at one point or another which goes to show were all true Jeepers at heart. Take care to those who are here to jeep and for the others, smile and keep typing.
PS if your gonna get uptight about something...ban loud techno from the trail. That shits more annoying than drinking a ice cold beer on the trail, your scaring the wildlife! And attracting the bicylers!

I could not agree with you more. While your at it, get rid of the fricken loud exhaust that drones you silly on the trails.

What kind of battery you getting Joe? I got a good deal on a Sears Platinum Diehard AGM last year, I think it was about $165.

What's the warranty? I have an 84 month warranty on the one I just got from Infiniti.

I haven't heard anything good about Mopar batteries either. I already had my battery replaced on my '12. Luckily it's still under warranty.

The Diehard Platinum battery from Sears has a 100 month warranty, with the first 48 months of that being free replacement warranty.

If you want the Diehard Platinum, which is the best battery/most rugged/most dependable available for the price IMHO for our Jeeps, you want the 34-78DT model which is the required Group 34 size. Both of my TJs have run this battery (after a bad experience with three prematurely failed Optimas) and I'll never run anything else.

Awesome thanks for the input guys! I'm about to pull it off the charger so hopefully all is good, considering the closest Sears is 75 miles away ...

I've always gone with the die hard line. Was going to get one if mine wasn't under warranty.
