It is that time again folks. We need to start planning the next Turdfest event. From the talk in Calico, it appears that Big Bear is the place to be in Summer. So, with that said, is everyone good with the ol' stomping grounds of Hanna Flats Campground? Big camp, pet friendly, and they have put up with us the last couple of years. Generally, we have been choosing the last weekend of July and it has worked well, but I have noticed a trend. Naxja and a VW bug and Thing club also hold their annual trips in Big Bear the same weekend. Do we mind the extra traffic, or do we want to go the weekend before or would everyone prefer the first weekend of August? Give me your input and don't be shy about letting me know what is best for you. I look forward to your replies.

Date of event is July 19th thru July 21st. Base camp is Hannah Flats Campground. I will reserve my site in the next day or so, so anyone wanting to attend, please also reserve soon if you plan on being around the big party that always happens after the trail runs. Hope to see everyone there.

I guess sign us up for trail 2, we've only got a rear locker so hopefully we don't hold anyone up. Previous owner said he did John Bull in this Jeep, so we'll give it a shot.

:hijacked: If anyone needs stock JK suspension parts- I probably have it for sale. Plus a little more. Aside from the bumper/steps I can bring to the
M & G or meet/ship beforehand.

I also will be selling my 305/70/17" KM2s with about 6000 miles on them. In great shape. I just need to pick them up from Stan's shop- will post pics. (On the Sale thread).
Back to our regularly scheduled program.....

Jeff,
Will Saturday night be a potluck dinner?

Mike shot a nice pig and is having the entire thing made into linguica and sausage, I can bring some for appetizers. I'm going to have a huge amount of it

#543 ·
Even if we don't do a potluck I'll plan on cooking up some for appetizers, it's got to be eaten :)

#552 ·
So I think there is enough interest already for the pot luck to call it a go. Who would like to bring what?

In the past, we have had spaghetti that works well to feed several people. Chili also has been a favorite. If spaghetti is the choice, I can bring a couple large packages of pasta and garlic bread. Let me know what you would like to bring to the gathering.

It's been a couple years since you guys have had my spaghetti sauce, and most of the current people have not had it, so perhaps it's time to bring it back. Put me down.

Should pick a site with several picnic tables nearby.
There's just one table at each campsite. We'll have to bring extra tables. I'll bring my REI Camp Kitchen for cooking and serving, and the Libation Station for the booze, but we might need one or two other tables for serving, in addition to the one campsite table.

Since we're hauling the TJ on the trailer, I'll see if Mike can fit the small bbq on it with a few pieces of oak wood. We can cook the sausage on it and then if someone needs it they can use it.
Each campsite also has a fire ring with a grate on it.

#553 ·
Put me down for the Lingucia & sausage, I'll come up with a side or something else depending on what some of the dishes are.

If necessary, I can pack my Weber charcoal up in the Taj Mahal. Just let me know if we have enough people that need a grill.

I will have my camp table in the camper if needed.

It's certainly MY favorite.

Hello all, I'll be coming up for the day just on Saturday and had a few questions

What time will the trail runs be kicking off? I'm signed up for Trail 1.

I'm not staying over night, but would like to bring some food and beverages for after the run to enjoy with fellow jeepers, any suggestions/requests on what to bring?

Jeff- I'll track the potluck so you have one less thing to track. (I'll also do nametags)
So far:
Jenn/Jeepherz- meat on a stick. Grill, small tables.
LabLover- Linguica/sausage
Turdhurdler- pasta
Yomondo- sauce, Camp Kitchen
LCH30-Chilli
Constable- paper plates, utensils, beverage
Finsizzle- ?

Fin- whatever you think you can manage. We had quite a variety last year. Good old fashioned chips/salsa/dips works too. Munchies while the food is cooking. Or sides.

I'll bring a couple bags of chips and some cookies.

My wife's the cook. I'm not allowed near fire unless there's a fire hydrant nearby... :D

I have a couple tables we keep in the motor home. I think they are 4 ft, they fold in half and are somewhat sturdy. I also will make a contribution to the Libation Station :)

#585 ·
Jeff, would you like me to bring the monster coffee pot again? Not sure if it's needed or not, but I've got plenty of room in the MH so I can easily throw it in.

We have Jocko's Steakhouse right down the road, they make some amazing beans. I will get a couple quarts to bring. Jocko beans will go great with any bbq'd meats :)
