That must be one heck of a rig. I've seen a few rigs get blasted off gatekeeper. Wasn't pretty. Saw Jason come down it in his YJ one weekend. That was pretty awesome. I think I have video of it somewhere!

Trust me. If combat didn't scare you then you will want more for the rest of your life. I would go back right now if they would take me.

Good morning Mo.
I posted the Crab Flats and set it up. I posted a leader who knew the run inside out. and I ran second spot. I set up the food and rest stops. All you have to do is decide what trail you want to run then make sure it is passable by your jeep. You then go to the top of the California page and click where it says new thread. Fill it out and your leading a run. I sort of lead it. I had Rob trail break and Jeff run tail gunner. I picked the cb channels and made the decisions. Thats what the trail boss does. Any questions fire away.

What he really means is being deployed was easier than raising three kiddos.

I think you would be bored overseas after spending the past months with the munchkins You would probably miss your Jeep a bit too.

Miss the kids and the jeep Yes. But bored? Combat is a rush that far exceeds drugs and once you taste it your either hooked or terrified. Plus it pays pretty good now days. I was making the princely sum of 500 per month in 68 as an E4 with combat and flight pay.

I get hazard pay, tax exempt, and a small per diem as well as separations pay. That's a lot of cash. I don't need the rush, I just want to go because in good at it.

I was told to stay in the reserves to keep my "pay check and benefits". I kindly responded, if I did this for a pay check I'd be here for the wrong reasons.

Never question your own motivation for doing what you love; just don't throw away the long term benefits and pay just because you love the job.

Think of it this way. You love your family. The extra pay and benies are for them, not you. Just sayin.

They told me to get the fudge out and if they never let my recycled butt near a combat zone it be the end of humanity.
No just kidding gave me dd214 and I drove off into the sunset.
