If I was in a more appeasing mood to spend money I would buy Hanson. Made in the US. Almost All others are Chinese. I'm just not sure if the steel is US or not.

Well that's the plan right now anyway. Unless my keys go missing or wake up cuffed to the bed.

So I am going to replace my u-joints in the next few weeks... anything better than a Spicer 5-760x out there that I'm not aware of? Preferably sealed...

Mike ordered a car trailer today for the black Jeep, he had to weigh it and it weigh's 4,800 lbs!! It's a little on the chubby side, fits in this family perfectly

Bummer is, the trailer won't be here until August. Looks like we either have to borrow one from a friend for Big Bear, or disconnect drivelines. That's the only downfall of the Atlas. He knows a couple people with trailers, I would think we can just borrow one.

Mike likes the Poison Spyder rear bumper & tire carrier, we may be going with that. It seems to be his Jeep, I guess he can make the decisions

Well u-joints are are depending on application. If it still a mostly street then 0 offset is best but if you have a outrageously high lift then you may need offset u-joints or go with a true cv shaft ( constant velocity shaft) if still street. Any drive shaft shop can make those.
Another issue when shopping for u-joints are do they have a cert or not for grease. The one with a cert are easer to maintain but due to the path of the cert they are hollow there fore have inherent weakness. The solids are stronger but require breakdown of components to grease and cleaning specially when in water or mud. The cert kind just pump grease and that will push out water and dirt.

Atlas can't flat tow? That's a bummer.

I'm replacing my axle u joints ... I have spicers in there now and they've lasted forever ... Just didn't know if they was something fancy out that I didn't know about ... I want non greasable sealed joints cuz I rarely if ever go in the water or mud ... Sealed seems to last longer in the desert ...

300 miles max, then they advise running it 10 minutes or so. It's due to getting the oil circulating.

Mike towed it home, but that was 180 miles. Big Bear is right at 300 miles from here, we could flat tow it and just run it at one of our stops and we may end up doing that.

He's wanted a trailer anyhow, now he had an excuse. Plus it's a business expense

Put it on a trailer is good idea anyway if its going to be driven hard. You don't need to stress if it breaks down.

Happy Thursday everyone. Been a busy week. My Jake graduated from 8th grade. More messed up paperwork my assistant is an idiot. A store inventory yesterday. Still haven't had time to wash the jeep after last weekend. TGIalmostF lol need some rest. Think I may head to the beach this weekend. Still a bit sore and no time for the chiropractor yet. I will wait till next week, after Fridays store inventory.

My dad told me about those, his buddy had to put one on his mini van to tow it, he said they are really expensive.

That's what we were thinking too, much easier to winch a broken Jeep on a trailer than try to fix it to tow home.

Congratulations to you and your Jake, now the fun begins

My Leo dog is in a mood today, already this morning he's gone after Mocha 3 times. I dropped a couple pieces of dog food when emptying the bags and when Mocha went for it, Leo went for him. Luckily Mocha is fast and got out of the way, Leo meant business.

Then I was eating breakfast and Leo was sitting by my chair, twice Mocha came near me and Leo lunged at him. Not sure what the issue is or if Leo is just fed up today. Mocha bugs him constantly, maybe he just wants left alone.

I'm a little nervous to leave them alone, I think Leo may go to the dentist and grocery shop with me today, lol.

Then I turned the page and saw a picture my brother at TDS...

Lisa, I had a bumper tire carrier that was cheep and rattled, cracked was a general pain in the ass. I finally got rid of it and found there weren't a ton of good ones out there for 35" tires. The Spyder unit is a quality piece, but its like $1200.I wanted a body mounted unit and got the Highrock unit for a great price. That one and the Exogate are the two most common I have found...

All Jeep TJ, YJ Products|Body Armor 4x4

Hi Lisa. This is what I have on mine. the classic model. It locks tight and you can expand it for the jerry cans or pull the cans and run it with the tire close to the body.. Only reason I'm thinking of selling it is to get an aluminum one made.
