It could if it was done wrong. Done right it should not be a problem. I've seen stans set up. It's sweet.

The 40 to 50 MPG market is getting better all the time. Just do a check on the Jetta's reliability ratings. The VW line was down a while ago. Might be back up by now.

I'm only locked in the rear right now. But would love to find some more desert wheeling spots. I basically only know Calico. My dad has a JK 2 door Rubicon on 37s so we go out to Calico all the time.

Next Tuesday i will be making the trek to JPI, front and rear anti-rocks are going on. No more disconnecting and hopefully more traction! After that trip ( and a few more pay checks ) will be a new front PSC BFH bumper with a warn winch and a 10' Rigid Industries light bar. I will say it really is nice having a good paying job and no expenses at 17 years old.

One day. I think after the winch and bumper a new PSC cage and some corbeau seats are in order. The stock tj seats are very uncomfortable for me.

Yeah..you gotta have comfy seats....I'm running the Corbeau RS reclining seats and love them...they have been in the jeep for a few years now and they've hold up really good.
I can wheel all day without getting tired.

Thanks guys. I was in San Diego last December and I loved it. I was there a couple of times before that and I loved everything about. Now it's even better I will have my dog and my jeep with me. Thanks! I hope to find a trail ride with the SoCal group soon.

That's awesome! I can't wait to see it when it's done, I've seen how you wheel that thing now so there will be no stopping you

I installed a trans cooler (and guage) because I read how HOT the trans gets while on the rocks. Made perfect sence to me, working the trans hard with no air flow. What a bunch of BS that was!!! Be carefull who you get your advice from. I'm learning that some people love to give advise, but don't have a clue what they are talking about...

What I meant is sometimes the fins on the cooler are set at a 90 degree to the radiator fins. That CAN cause a problem with air flow. You really don't know how hot the trans is till you put a temp gage in it. If it is not over about 250 on a hot slow day your good to go. If it creeps into the 300 range then you need a cooler. If you have a reader you can tap into the computer and see what the trans temp is. Ive had race cars run as high as 350 and we change the fluid every weekend. Others with tight converters not so much. Your trans has a cooler on it right now in the radiator. The big thing the external one does is move the oil out of the coolant in case of leaks.

Different Trans have different ways of getting hot. Some are inclined to get hot on the trail and some on the hwy and we all know that excessive heat can cause faster wear or worse....We get some hot temps in the IE and Mine is set to come on at 180. It comes on while wheeling and sometimes on the street so I'm glad I have it. Like both Steve and Dan, I put mine in before knowing if I needed it, so maybe if I did it over again I would put the gauge in first
